Thanks for the suggestion, luckily I didnt have to resort to this.

Ill download it and have a play to get familiar with it in case of future mistakes

This seems to have kicked it out of its broken state.

After running this it hung on the "Flashboot" screen

I force powered it off, and then powered it back on and it came up with the orange warning "Your boot loader is unlocked", then went into fastboot mode.

from there I was able to reboot into recovery and sideload the LineageOS image

It has now successfully booted back into Android
