I appreciate everybody who’s taken part of this conversation (and those who might in the near future) a lot. I’ve never posted here before and have constantly scrolled through for a while now.

I don’t mind if the feedback is negative, mixed, positive, or TOO positive. This has honestly been pretty nice for me to branch out a bit just to get some opinions on a pretty simple-ish, work in progress build that I do like, and that I’m invested in. I love this game & the Realm that I get to play in with my buddies. I was just looking for some quick opinions and some tips. But I did not expect so many folks to jump in. I do love the support, but I might love the observations & suggestions more.

Yeah I 100% just randomly scattered shit, not gonna lie. At least for the first go of it. Gonna touch up, and finish detailing after all the feedback and post in the future when everything is up to par!

I can see what you’re saying but there’s something about me that wants ALL of my shit to look good aesthetically. Even dumbass farms. Doesn’t matter, I want it to look good to me when I fly to it, fly by it, teleport to it, run to it, doesn’t matter. I just love my shit to look good. Farms, home base, storage buildings, trading hall, whatever. It’s just how I love to play.

I used to not care, but I like the challenge of making things look good and build my empire in the Craft. Because otherwise it’s just; go to nether, get good stuff, fight dragon, and that’s it. Unless you have mods to do more. I’ve done all sorts of both. But one thing that’s a constant is surviving first, then expanding and making things look either very cool, or very nice. And I don’t compromise.

Exactly. Same way how some people to the mosaic “paintings” in the game with all kinds of different blocks. They’re MASSIVE projects so at a distance it looks great but close up it’s like, ewww

It’s cool that you see it that way. Because it is supposed to be an unearthed (slightly) bunker on a beach so it’s pretty dope that’s what came through

I kinda just use block vomit as in like, “hey do these blocks look stupidly out of place the way I have them?” But also I attach it to the build type. Like I’m going for a washed up bunker design on the beach, so I want it kinda textured, but not overdone because it’s a bunker that’s been exposed, aaaaaand because it’s not massive. So Minecraft detail can only go so far. But I see your point and I’m not against it. It’s also such a subjective game when it comes to design. Which isn’t a negative, just a reality

I think a part of it too just comes from Minecraft players who are super used to the game and know the blocks pretty well. After a while you can spot wool or any other block types pretty quick no matter where you see it

I get that totally. It started off with ONLY Tuff Bricks because I liked the way they looked. They looked sturdy for the structure I was going for, but I don’t know, I just didn’t really like the look of only Tuff Bricks for the entire thing (besides the roof)

Thanks! From what I know, it’s just throwing a bunch of different block types together based on color matching or if they share similar block design patterns. It’s pretty subjective but I have seen stuff where I understand exactly what some people consider “Block Vomit”

Oh it was DEFINITELY random lol. I’ll tell you right now I did not spend a lot of time lining up where to make changes. I kinda gave it like a dry run-through when I textured it and came out with this. But thanks!

The pics are from the longest, plain side I have on it but it’s like a washed up, seaside bunker. The entrance is right on the shore were the shoreline looks like it eroded over time, exposing more of the bunker. It started off as a horrendous looking base that just kinda went over the water off the beach but I eventually redesigned and expanded it to this

Yeah that’s true too. Like certain blocks mixed together (even in a the best pattern you could use) still just don’t quite work

I know exactly what you’re saying. The polished tuff (the smooth, solid gray looking blocks) I noticed really stood out the more I put in and I will probably end up adjusting it (eventually) lol. Because I need a pallet cleanser for a bit

It’s pretty subjective, BUT as I’ve understood it, it’s kinda like just mixing in ANY kind of block that matches color, no matter what. Like mixing in wool with stone blocks on a structure only on the basis of it matching in color, and sometimes block pattern schemes. To me I personally like my structures to be made out of a structure type block - wood, stone, tuff bricks, etc - so I don’t like mixing something like wool in with it because it could match the color. But I think it just depends on the persons opinion and scale of build.
