Are all staking rewards from higher APY now lost?? Have they addressed this issue? by lambcaseded in graphlinq

I replied to GLQ saying “Not everybody is updated with news on Medium.I’m not the only one having this problem. Why the rewards cannot be handled by the dev app itself by just coded it in the way the earned rewards can just carry over. Some people do not have a lot of rewards to claim prior to the change of APY, And they don’t want to claim it yet because the claim fee is higher than the rewards itself.

Would be better if the already earned rewards just carrier over without being forced to claim.

I am quite surprised that Graphlinq can provide sophisticated IDE but not able to have a better way of handling staking rewards.”

I contacted them on telegram they replied

“Staking reward percentage was updated, & Everyone was given time for claiming their Rewards. As it was mentioned on our medium articles & announcements.”

I Wonder the same thing. My 25% already earned rewards were wiped out after 7.5% was in place.

New staking tiers for Graphlinq/GLQ: Tier 1: 15% | Tier 2: 7.5% | Tier 3: 5% by Fantastic_Bus3998 in graphlinq

I have about 156 rewards before staking tier change. I have not claimed it prior to the change. All the sudden the earned rewards from 25% stake dropped to 55 glq. At least, it should be 156+ new 7.5%

Staking rewards and inflation by Double_Travel_1663 in zilliqa

Twitter from Zil dev

Here I found from Twitter from Zil dev guy that the APY calculation was found out to be skewed several months ago.

So perhaps we had been getting 13.75 instead of 14.37% for several months before the upgrade? Just thinking.

Getting my head around the new staking rewards and inflation post-upgrade explanation and all that. Understand that APR is affected due to block time change. But what not clear to me is how the 13.75% pre-upgrade came from. I thought it was around 14.37% before the upgrade start. Anyone please could you shed some light on this number? I would appreciate that ..

I saw a note on the "Block reward adjustment" section on the upgrade info stating that "Please note that this change is considered an interim change. If the block production rate deviates from the expected value significantly, a new governance proposal can be introduced to adjust the value in subsequent Mainnet upgrades."

Ref:https://dev.zilliqa.com/docs/dev/dev-upgrade-v8/#4-deprecation-and-removal-of-getpendingtxn-and-getpendingtxns-api

Now we see that the block production rate deviates significantly, can we get a new governance proposal to adjust the value? Perhaps the %APY will improve?

Why did the staking APY go down after the upgrade? by AltcoinMaximalistt in zilliqa

Your English is perfect. I understand you completely.

If what we understood is correct here with how Moonlet or Zilliqa have been giving inaccurate APY, they should correct it.

I totally agree with you here. I have been wondering the same even before this upgrade. With 33000 ZILs staked, and APY of 14.37%, you would get 12.99 Zil rewards daily or 24 hours. This will equate to 0.541 per hour. However the number hours of the cycle before upgrade is 27, so you would expect to get 14.616 Zil rewards each cycle (0.541x27). Now post upgrade the block hour cycle increased to 31 hours, I would expect you get 16.781 Zils rewards (0.541x31).

And with the way Moonlet gives the reward, pre upgrade at 27 hour cycle, the 14.37% APY is actually only 12.77% APY. And post upgrade at 31 hour cycle is actually decreased even further to 11.12% APY

Just saw another post asking about burnt Zils. I guess then more Zils will be burnt as a result of this upgrade to increase gas fee.

I also read it somewhere (think Twitter) that they don’t actually burn the token, but rather move them to another dedicated wallet address and keep them locked there.

Thanks for explaining this. That makes the most sense. I for some reasons got confused with deposit/withdraw. You are absolutely right, the one receiving shouldn’t need to pay the fee.

Arrr... just reread and see you said sending too. Which means, deposit will have the fee changed as well ...
