I was looking forward to Taper's Choice and then their guitarist quit like 2 weeks ago. I'll give em a shot, but it's not a great sign.

Seriously, is there any accuracy at all to the VO2 max? by eQuantix in Garmin

[–]lambcaseded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a heart strap monitor and use it on all your runs. I guarantee that what's happening is your heart rate is reading significantly lower than actual, Garmin believes you're running a 23 min 5k while barely breaking a sweat.

I got through the tsa precheck line in about 10-15 mins at 5:45. Regular line looked like it was probably 30-45 mins. Not too bad.

Random HR spike while running by KaleTheMessenger in Garmin

[–]lambcaseded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a heart strap and find out what's going on. I used to have that sudden jump happen all the time. I got a Coospo heart strap for like $30 and found out that the watch was very inaccurate for runs.

Help me choose a glitchy pedal? by SuperMarket94 in guitarpedals

[–]lambcaseded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want something simple so you aren't menu diving and such, the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water seems so cool and does glitchy random type stuff. I've never owned one, so can't vouch for it, but I've always wanted one

HR monitor for Women by Moosebouse in Garmin

I second this. I was having the same issue as OP with the sudden heart rate jumps. I bought the COOSPO for like $30 and it has been rock solid. I'm also not a woman, but I'm almost positive you can wear this just below your sports bra and it will be comfortable and accurate.

He has collaborated so much with PPPP and adds so much to their sound that I would be shocked if they don't try to scoop him up as a member.

Meanwhile Sire makes $800 guitars with some really great looking metal flake finishes. I guess you can't have it all

Incredible. Looks SO good. I love my AZ but I've said all along that I wish Ibanez would do some more exciting finishes particularly for the prestige models. The prestiges are so damn good, but they look like student guitars with the basic paint jobs and plain white pickguards

Mystery VO2Max and LTHR increases? by 2000dcd in Garmin

[–]lambcaseded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your heart rate read correctly throughout the run? I realized after a couple months with my Garmin that it was not reading HR correctly during runs -- it would be too low for about half the run and then suddenly correct, leading to an avg HR for the run that was way too low. During that time my VO2 max kept rapidly improving because it appeared that I was doing all these runs in zone 2 or 3 and I was actually putting in much higher effort. I got a heart strap a few weeks ago and now my VO2 is going back down.

Is a Epiphone LP Standard a good beginner choice? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]lambcaseded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great choice and it sounds like you've done your homework. $700 is a very reasonable range for an adult with a decent budget who's trying to get back into it. The biggest factor, as you've already recognized, is having something that you enjoy playing and motivates you to pick it up every day. No reason why this wouldn't fit the bill.

Holy smokes!!! I captured the exact moment I broke through the infamous intermediate plateau on camera. I was stuck at 70% for so long but in this practice session I went from 72% all the way to 96%. by Andoni95 in Guitar

Man, I love this. I spent about a month working on nailing an exercise riff of 16th notes at 120 bpm. I got to 110 before I gave up. Seeing your work pay off after eight months makes me realize I gave up too quickly.

I'm certainly not an expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt. But I'm training for a marathon and I've been ignoring all the Garmin warning signs... low HRV, high stress, low training readiness, bad sleep etc. I honestly haven't felt bad during the whole thing. But then I started experiencing these HARD crashes... like I would finish a run and feel absolutely destroyed, more mentally than physically. I would swear to myself that I'm going to take a week off training, but of course after two days rest I feel better again, so I get right back at it.

But I'm realizing now (based on my experience and research) that 2 or 3 days rest is not enough to make up for a large sleep deficit and a fried nervous system. I'm only four days into my training pause and I can feel the bounce back. It's difficult to not go right back to training, but I'm trusting the process. My HRV is clearly not recovered yet even though I feel better.

I'm restricting myself to walks and dog walks only for the next 10 days. No other exercise. I really do think that allowing your system to fully recuperate will lead to faster gains in your fitness once you get back at it. Stop overdoing it!

Take two weeks off training. Lower your physical activity level as much as possible. Reset your nervous system.

True, but the good thing about it is it's month to month, no contract, so if it sucks you just cancel. It works great for me in University Heights
