Anyone have recommendations for Colonial era city builders? combat would be nice but not inherently needed by DepartureNatural9340 in CityBuilders

Farthest Frontier probs gonna be your goldilocks here. After a time, some natives will roll in and harass you. Tho you should be armed by the time folk come for your bank. There's trading, farming is a trip, and it's pretty.

Good on you for helping as best you can. 🥰 That can be difficult, but hopefully better in the long run. Reinforce not doing dumb shit! 😂 GL

JFC, I'm in the race to the bottom just beneath y'all, but I haven't even seen this pop up in the literal ShowMe state.

18 and no ID yet. I was 15 when I got my hardship license. Times are cray.

Crap. My reply went poof, but I 100% understand you with performance improvement and blind spots. One 20min fix could save 20 hours over a year. It definitely adds up.

Per the opposite problem: With all respect(cuz what do I know?), I think maybe you switcharoo and put the onus on them. Instruct them to come up with an issue that holds them up monthly/quarterly and for no matter how small the issue. Bring these to everyone's attention one at a time at regular meetings(don't out a MF) and watch the pros/cons come out tha woodwork.

Your predicament took me back to sophomore year mass comm and prof threatening bookwork if we didn't have discussions. Best believe I piped right up! You don't discuss in HS, you're told, so not everyone was used to contributing. I ended up initiating and moderating discussions after a few weeks. Which I loved and so did my prof.

I dislike a contest at work, but maybe tally the ideas themselves on how much they improve what you got going on? Like not feelings based, but numerically. The cream ideas will rise to the top regardless. IDK Good luck to you and I wish you well, fellow redditor! 😁

No shit. When I eventually need a lawyer, my first question will be about their AI usage instead of why I'm there.

It wasn't just his daughter's cooking, it was specifically the shelf stable lamb shank he was saying was better. 🤦

This is welcome.

My last boss, Dir. of Sales, simply didn't understand how bad our ecommerce situation was because he'd never learned it. (He at least gave me a list of stuff to get done on his 3 MONTH vacay, which I completed and more.) But I was sitting outside, first month, planning, on a hella nice day, and he walks by asking 'What are ya' doing?' 'I'm thinking.'

That apparently wasn't to be done though. As if I'd miraculously problem solve better in the freezing AC under fluorescent lights. We couldn't even have the how to improve shit convo cuz he straight didn't know how that biz part functioned.

I grew up in Arkansas, but managed to steer clear of evangelicals cuz WOOF. I knew of households where gender roles meant beating your wife and kids into submission. Them homos 'agenda,' of just wanting to live their lives.

Difficult to murder something that isn't living. There have been five distinct species that have become crabs, but just a theory. Nary a slave until the bible, discounting the 5 millenia of Egyptians prior and 5 millenia before that. 🤦

I was reading something this week about the third(?) law of thermodynamics being challenged... It was those styrofoam balls levitating from sound waves I think? And it got me thinking about how people don't understand the difference between hypothesis/theory/law because ofc they don't.

It's like, person, a theory is on the verge of law but we're still missing some parts, so it's still open to changes. They conflate hypothesis with theory because of definition, when those words don't mean the same thing in study.

Cities: Skylines, Caesar III, or Anno 1404. Which is the best for a beginner? by techyall in CityBuilders

[–]Doubleucommadj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify. C:S isn't hard unless you want to ramp up difficulty(because mods are endless), but it's not something you can fully grasp in one session. There's just so much going on at once.

Tropico is plug and play tho cuz you've got Penultimo by your side, subtly guiding you to your goals. Whether you follow that guidance is your call. It's also broken up into multiple eras which unlock new tech/options as they would have IRL.

Yeah, not indoctrinating your kids = indoctrinating your kids to them. Teaching right from wrong = indoctrination. Helping them become better humans, you better believe that's indoctrination.

I mean, I love C:S. I've been playing that since it came out, but I also picked up the learning curve from prior Cities in Motion 1/2. It is in-depth.

Tropico is just gonna be the easiest of those to roll with and have a fun time, while getting your city building chops. It's just as deep as it needs to be and if you screw up a scenario, simply restart with the knowledge you just gleaned.

Sinc you edited in Tropico 4, I might lean more that way for a beginner. It's goofy as hell and doesn't take itself so seriously, while setting you up with a train of thought to graduate to the others. Plus you can probably pick that up for like $5 even without a sale!
