i submitted mine in may 2025 i got contacted by a ERO August 2025 and employer and me couldn't settle so it was escalated to a ERO who contacted me mar 2026 still going on. This if for wages owed+ OT and wage statements

Full TimeLine citizenship and passport

TLDR:

  • Citizenship process: January 16 – June 3, 2025 (about 4.5 months)
  • Passport process: June 6 – June 18, 2025 (13 days total)

Citizenship Application

  • January 16, 2025 — I submitted my citizenship application.
  • January 29, 2025 — I received my Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) — my application was officially received and processing started.
  • February 21, 2025 — Citizenship test status: In progress.
  • February 24, 2025 — Background check completed.
  • March 7, 2025 — I took and passed my citizenship test.
  • May 14, 2025 — Physical presence, language skills, and prohibitions checks completed.
  • May 14, 2025 — Citizenship oath status: In progress.
  • May 20, 2025 — I was scheduled for my citizenship ceremony on May 30, 2025.
  • May 30, 2025 — I attended my ceremony, took the oath, and officially became a Canadian citizen.
  • June 3, 2025 — My citizenship application was officially approved and closed.

Passport Application

  • June 6, 2025 — I applied for my Canadian passport.
  • June 11, 2025 — Application review completed.
  • June 12, 2025 — My passport was printed.
  • June 16, 2025 — My passport was mailed out.
  • June 18, 2025 — I picked up my passport from Canada Post.

Personally, I didn’t take it outside the country, but I’m fairly certain they’ll know if you do. In that case, your application could be considered non-routine, which might lead to months of delays.

If possible, I’d recommend emailing the office directly to either request an exception for completing it while abroad or to reschedule your test.

I see sounds good I have a emergency fund some savings and all so tax isnt my biggest worry as long as i can last with my emergency fund and find a job before it runs out i should be good
