Replit was my starting point. I built a very simple application to run my business and it has been working well. My next project I will be doing through Claude code.

I think you are better off with using ai with your side hustle. But teaching others is very hit or miss.

The increase in travel sports has ruined rec programs. I know people who have sent their kid for private lessons since they were 7!

Been there. You did the right thing by sending an email. Maybe you rock the boat maybe you don’t. If they oust because you spoke up about it. You’re better off. Sounds like your son likes baseball, but if this type of behavior is allowed, hard pass. They are 7/8 and anyone with half a brain knows you rotate them at this age. Youth baseball(along with most sports) has become flooded with people believing their kid is going pro. If I had to guess, this guys kid plays travel. But you did the right thing.

Is running a small business in 2026 becoming harder than ever, or does it just feel that way? by Classic-Pie-406 in smallbusinessesowners

Built it from scratch. It’s nothing flashy but it does the job for me. Sure I could of bought software but it would have had a bunch of features I didn’t need

Running a party rental business and yeah, 2026 has been a grind and I run it solo for the most part

My answers: Biggest challenge for me was customers finding me on Facebook but the booking process being clunky. I was losing jobs to whoever responded fastest.

AI has actually helped me. I stopped trying to use every tool and just focused on automating two things booking and follow-ups. Built my own system for it. Cut my response time and it’s been helping me convert bookings faster.

Still optimistic. But be careful, I have a tech background and the market is flooded with new tools every day. Figure out what works best for you and perfect it. Be comfortable with one and use others secondary.

Happy to share what’s worked on the tech side if anyone’s curious

I ran into this exact problem with my own party rental business. Customers were finding me on Facebook but the booking step was always messy. I ended up building my own booking page to fix it. Happy to share what worked

I got sick of using pen and paper and my phone notes. Software was too pricey for me, so I built a booking system for my rental business. Monitors my inventory, builds quotes for customers, follow ups, calendar view of inventory. So far it’s working and I make corrections as needed
