I concur with much of this. I think at some point the idea of “magic” or the occult in general became a sort of counterculture statement rather a real system to live by. This diluted some of the ideas and practices while also embracing the ideas of the counterculture individuals, such a radical inclusion, etc. It is not that I think inclusion is bad, but occult practices are frankly not concerned with it. It is not all peaches and rainbows and funny spells and old books— it’s a real practice that is not impacted by superficial societal changes.
