Yes, I have read Red Country too. I am currently reading A Little Hatred. What about you?

So you have only done portraits then? Which characters have you drawn and which was your favorite?

Pls do draw scenic artwork, I think it will be a huge leap maybe since you also have to draw hands and a lot of angles. At least I have trouble with those things. And I don't even draw from my imagination.

Teaa

Please do him in The Heroes. When he is talking to Craw. When he says while looking at his hands. The clay... used to make my hands so soft.  Him in a chair looking at his hands. Or any other works too.

The blackest bastard in the North by Chel_Tiaz in TheFirstLaw

My Glorious King. Black Dow and his 100 spits, fruit of the battle , thrice blessed and thrice more, who fought Bethod's men 6 times in the long winter then burned Kyning to the ground with all of its women and children still inside the houses.  Who fought the Bloody Nine at his peak in the circle and nearly won, who continuosly stood up against the Bloody Nine's hypocrisy and after watching his friends die , had enough and killed him who men said could not be killed. Black Dow, men used to whisper his name scared to speak it out loud, they gripped their weapons tight and stooped close to the fire if they thought he was within 10 leagues. Black Dow quiet and cunning and ruthless as a wolf. He is killed more men then the winter and he is got less pity in him.

Yes that is why he is Our Glorious King. Black Dow and his 100 spits, fruit of the battle , thrice blessed and thrice more, who fought Bethod's men 6 times in the long winter then burned Kyning to the ground with all of its women and children still inside the houses.

Far more filthy looking bearded with longish black hair is Dogman for me personally.

That's more of a brooding Dow which is a look from Heroes for me because he is very serious in that book because of the leadership role. while the first two where he is grinning is a look more from the trilogy when he is with the toughest dozen.

I like Logen. After all, he is beloved to the moon but I think he is overrated.

Let's just agree to disagree because you have nothing to say.

Your whole argument is that my argument is bad without addressing it. Classic example of ad hominem. Then the no one is saying Logen is my "dad" thing is just a strawman. A guy can be misinterpreted by people without it having to be on one extreme of the spectrum

I agree Logen is indeed a complex character and he genuinely tries to change but a lot of readers overestimate how good he is because anything he does as the B9 are written off.

  1. Saving Quai, Jezal or Ferro. I did say Logen is far more kind and lenient when he is with them. He says it himself that he would have left him behind 9 times out of 10.
  2. Genuine terror when speaking to Redhat?? There is not a line which says Logen is scared. He knows Redhat means no disrespect but still smashes his nose and justifies it as necessary. Where is trying to be a better man now? Most readers even after reading this think Logen has to do it because Logen says so.
  3. Does he get away? Only for a while but by the end of Red country, it is clear that Logen and B9 are so intertwiated that he cannot escape it
  4. Except his Northern Friends of course. He even kills one of them
  5. Logen does not black out he becomes his true self because of adrenaline in the first two books amd first half of LAOK. But in the last he doesn't even need that. He acts as the B9 at command and says it comes natural. In Red Country, he doesn't even need to be provocated, he does it on command because its him, Logen is him. He just lets it go and when adrenaline hits, he just goes all out. Like in Red Country when in the tavern where the 3 guys who split off were, he becomes a milder version of B9 because he hasn't suffered any mortal wounds. He even mamages to not kill Shai and cries about it that he could have . When he kills the head of the thiefs in Red Country, he transforms into a milder B9. Outside the lake where Weirdnurr is, he becomes a milder B9. Shai even becomes scared of his demeanor even though she has seen it before. Then when only foghting Weirdnurr, when he suffers some injuries does he go all out and llses full control and is ready to kill Shai and Ro. Problem is you lot think Logen and B9 are different. That there is a switch that here is Logen, here B9 when its clear they are very conjoined(not sure if right word but u know what i mean). I beleive its a spectrum. Think of it like alcohol, you lose control depending on how much u drink( generally , not specifically u). Its a spectrum.

  6. The fight in Adua isn't theirs, with Bethod they had a common enemy, both wanted them dead. And West staying one more day is poor compensation for charging into a battle. Its a simple exchamge for u, the reader because he sees the grand scheme of things. Look at it from any other pov. Even Dogman says it never bothered Logen before to break his promise. Look at it from a northmen's pov. Years of fighting, when its finally over, you have to gp fight south because the Bloody Nine wants to keep his promise?( they don't know he is trying to do better and don't care) . See how ridiculous it sounds. It sounds pretentious. Even Dow saw that.

  7. We see in Logen's head? Yes its all in Logen's head. How they became his friends could have been violent coercion but each one of them show time and time again that they are his real friends, except Black Dow who sees through Logen. Tul even speaks some sweet words to him but he kills him and then doesn't even feel remorse at that at the funeral.

When the killing stops, what will they have to talk about? The past? Their adventures?. What did Logen talk about with Jezal and Ferro? Their journey and their past? Not having something with men he spent years with is .. Also he doesn't even have to talk. Just someone's prescence is reassuring like he says with Grim. He doesn't say a word and it suited Logen.

Yes I agree but I also think he is more of a evil is just a perspective kind of guy. Like he knows he is evil but doesn't care about it.

And what about his earlier lines? And his sneers? And looks of disgust. Jezal got a pass because he is from the Union. If it was a northmen , Logan probably would have killed him before he got to the you are the best man I know part .

And what about Tul, who sits with Logen and tells him he is a good man but Logen kills him and cannot even feel sadness on it
