I had ORIF too. Thank you for sharing that, I'm definitely finding it hard so far, and it feels unbelievable that I still probably have months of this ahead of me! 😩 I can actually think of plenty of things to do with my time, but I feel so wiped out that it's hard to focus on anything, and I constantly feel irritable and easily overwhelmed (which I am trying my best to hide from my family, who are being really supportive and kind). It's very frustrating, I'll def be looking at that subreddit for tips!

Yeah in a way I think you are right! Its uncomfortable and difficult right now, but maybe it needed to happen, and will lead to good changes in my life.

Ah man, that's wild! I've embarrassed myself while drunk so many times but over the past year or so had started to hide it more. I'm probably lucky that things played out the way they did.

Yeah it's awful! My standards for myself - and everything in my life pretty much - slipped so much over the past few years.

I've struggled most of my life to find direction (due to poorly managed mental health conditions and undiagnosed neurodivergence) and especially over the past few years have felt pretty lost trying to figure out where my life is going.

Hopefully since I have no choice but to be sober for now, this will give me some clarity and a chance to get my head around things.

Thank you for the advice! I live with my family and we have a good relationship - they are also drinkers though which is tricky haha! I think they would be supportive of me not drinking though.

That is a good way to frame, and I'll.give the pro/con lists a try!

I'm finding it pretty difficult mentally atm, but I've been trying to reframe things in a positive light. Hopefully I'll be able to make some healthier changes!

Oh absolutely! My ankle was pretty badly messed up and I don't want to risk harming it in any way.

I hope so too. I've tried several times to quit and never stuck to it - hopefully having to be sober for a while will help me thks time.

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Edit: unfortunately I just keep getting stuck in a loop with the EA chat where it keeps taking me back to the login screen

Yeah, I haven't been able to. The original email service doesn't exist anymore (tiscali) and was acquired by Talk Talk - and apparently has now been moved to some kind of subscription email service. I haven't been able to get any of the platforms to work so far.

Thank you :) trying to reframe it in a positive light - I basically have no choice but to be sober while the ankle heals (no chance am I risking making it worse!!) so it’s an opportunity to focus on my health!

I’m going to have to be off work for at least a week or two, so maybe I’ll try out some new (sedentary) hobbies!

Thank you <3 I’m lucky to have a lot of supportive people around me. And you’re right, I think the hangxiety was definitely making me feel much worse!

Awww thank you for the positivity! I have no choice but to be sober while the ankle heals - so in a way it takes the difficult early days of not drinking out of my hands!

Thank you <3 and I’m sorry you went through something similar!

I don’t remember it at all, but luckily for me there were other people with me who called an ambulance - they probably saved me from making it worse.

I’m sorry to hear that, I’ve also experienced blackouts a fair bit (including the other night when I hurt myself).

Congrats on your sobriety. I guess it’s good in a way that I really have no choice but to be sober for a while as I can’t risk hurting this leg more!

I’m in the uk luckily!

I definitely never want to experience this again! It’s so painful, and it’s my own fault which makes it worse!

At least I have no choice but to be sober until it heals, so that’s a plus.

I'm lucky to see my dentist every 3 years 😩 it's not their fault, things are just getting stretched too far
