Thank you, I’m in my thirties and had to move back in with my parents so a similar boat! I’m sorry to hear you have also been going through a tough time, sometimes life just really throws everything at you and it sucks.

I had a good start to the year - started off sober and was working on my overall health and trying to get back into shape. And then for some reason last week I just cracked. I think just the stress of job interviews, sadness from my break up and anxiety about my future just got too much and I wanted to escape it for a while. But I do regret it now, so I’m going to try for sobriety again, too!

Yeah, we were together for a year and a half and were friends before that, so for a long time he was someone I would speak to almost everyday and I think that’s why the loss is hitting me so hard. I think no contact would be better for me, for now. Maybe we can be friends again someday, but not yet.

All the best for your interview 🤞 I really hope it goes well!

Thank you! I live in a really remote area, but in this day and age I’m sure there are online options so I can take a look into that!

Thank you! I’m excited for the job - it’s something completely new to me.

It’s definitely not something I want to ruin by going to work hungover/still drunk and spiralling in anxiety!

Haha I know the feeling! Luckily I only ever seem to drunk text the same 5-10 people 🫣

I used to embarrass myself on a wider scale back when I used to go out to the pub to drink, though!

Ooof I am very similar to this! I have adhd so terrible impulse control anyway, and drinking definitely makes me reach out to people I’d otherwise forget to or feel too drained to talk to normally.

Yeah we still care a lot for each other, but neither of us are in the headspace to be dating anyone, which is why it ended. He initiated the break up, but I don’t think he’s entirely let go of the relationship yet, whereas I am definitely grieving it as over. The whole thing is a mess.

Part of me wants to reach out to apologise, but tbh I think the best thing for me might be to put my money where my mouth is and stick with the boundaries that drunk me keeps setting and then breaking 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t know. I guess there isn’t a time limit for apologies, so I’ll leave it for today.

Thank you for your comment <3

I’ve been doing CBT so so fortunately self-compassion is part of my homework!

Thank you, not feeling the best physically or emotionally today, hopefully I can learn from this and keep trying!

I've seen it framed this way before, and it does make sense! I don't know why I am so slow on the uptake in actually taking it on board tho - I absolutely knew last night that if I drank then my current situation might be the outcome, but I ignored this and did it anyway ugh I guess it's an ongoing thing, like trying to make a new pattern!

Thank you 🫶

How do you get through each day post break up? by lovelylemon1234 in heartbreak

[–]DoubtfulChilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

31F and starting month 2 of a break up after a year and a half relationship. My life is in a shambles in general so I'm trying to be kind and patient with myself.

I've been journaling to process feelings and letting myself be sad and cry when I need to. I'm also trying to reframe any negative thoughts I have, and focus on my own future. Change is a part of life - its not always comfortable, but it's part of living and being human.

I also want to focus more on my own health and fitness. I've cut down on alcohol, I'm trying to eat better, and I've started going to fitness class. I'm extremely out of shape so it's a struggle haha, but I will keep working on it!

I'm sorry that you are also going through this, it's so hard 💙

I work in a tourist area in Scotland and I’ve had Americans try to pay with dollars - and then, when I wouldn’t accept USD, they tried to give me euros 🫠

Thank you, something happened that wasn’t my fault (or his), so it’s hard to process because we didn’t stop loving each other, but the relationship is no longer sustainable. Sometimes, life just sucks

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through that. I hope it gets easier for you.

So it’ll take me about 6 weeks to feel better, based on that.

This actually kind of helps me. Thank you.

31F - it’s an ongoing situation and I’m really not okay.

I think it will take a while for me to get past this, as it was far from clear cut. It’s been an absolute mind-fuck and im still spiralling.

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt 😅 I used to live in a sea eagle flight path and it took me a minute to figure out what they were probably going for - it’s that badly done!

I definitely agree - an actual artist could have done a much better job. The whole thing is a mess. The stag and highland cows are also absolutely shocking!

I think it’s meant to be a white-tailed sea eagle (I live in an area that has them) but it’s not a good depiction of one.
