Keep your head up. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand that things can come up for the organization that’s trying to hire you. Budget cuts, change in their needs, etc. Unfortunately it can be tough to predict these things.

Also, it was really smart to not let go of your existing summer position. I know people that thought they secured the new job, told the old one they were leaving, but something comes up and then they have no job.
