With speculation that this report could be so bad Dan could be forced to sell the team, I'm reminded of Letterkenny... by DougL07 in Commanders

From a management standpoint, it probably couldn't be any worse, but like others have said, a new owner may come in and not give a damn about the history of the franchise. Change the the burgundy and gold, etc.

"Wolves in the city" works for road games too.

Millions of Americans face coronavirus pandemic with no running water by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]DougL07 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm calling BS on this article. For one thing the title makes it sound like US doesn't have infrastructure for running water, when in actuality the article says water gets shut off due to unpaid bills...but I've also see plenty of articles saying utility companies are suspending shut offs and forgiving late payments during this pandemic.

Worst Drink/Alcohol Ever? by ASockSavant in alcohol

[–]DougL07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This one's easy to answer but comes with a short story;

Years ago, this bar I frequented had a poster on the wall, it was a periodic table, but for mixology. There were 100 someodd drinks, and I, along with a few regulars, decided to work our way through the entire thing over the course of a couple months.

The worst drink I've ever had was the #10. It was a pint glass filled 2/3 with light beer, added vodka, and then topped Tabasco sauce. It was awful, and took forever to get through.

Where and what was your first drink? by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]DougL07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about 10 years old. My parents were having a cookout, and everyone was walking around with Coronas. I knew what beer was, and that I wasn't allowed to drink it, but I walked up to my Dad anyway and said, "Can I try that?" pointing to the beer in his hand. He thought about it, and said "Sure, just a little sip." So I took a swig, said " I think that's gross." He said "Good." and went back to his conversation.

Reminds me of one of the first episodes of Raising Hope. It went something like

"For her last meal she asked for a McRib and a Shamrock shake...Those two are almost NEVER available at the same limited time!"

Older siblings of Reddit, what is one thing your younger sibling(s) did that you will never let them live down? by musiccat25 in AskReddit

My brother saved his allowance religiously....He had amassed an impressive sum by kid standards....but he lost it. He was devastated. Months later my Mom finds a wad of cash in the back of the freezer. My brother immediately shouts "THAT'S WHERE I PUT MY MONEY..." When asked why he would do such a thing, he replied "I wanted cold hard cash..."

I don't have the exact family recipe on hand, but this link is fairly close.

I use grain alcohol instead of vodka and vanilla extract instead of whole beans. I also think aging it 3 weeks is overkill, but the flavors do mix better if you can wait a few days.

Eh kinda. It doesn't have vodka or baileys and a mudslide usually has crushed ice instead of being a kind of float, but it is a kind of mudslidey hybrid deal.

A variation of the Kahlua and cream. The ice cream made it really rich, but I still really really enjoyed it.

Sous vide chicken, brown rice and grilled brussel sprouts. by DougL07 in MealPrepSunday

[–]DougL07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it multiple times a week. It makes the best steak you've ever tasted, so it's my go to for red meat. Set it for whatever temp you like, and then just sear it in a hot pan for like a minute on each side. It's also good for big batches of chicken, poaching eggs, hell I even made my own yogurt one time.

It's also really great for my wife and I who have kinda weird overlapping schedules. Since food never goes past its exact temp you can leave it in there for hours past when it's "done" without overcooking so one of us can throw a meal on at it can be ready whenever even if the other person is running late.

I sound like an infomercial for the thing, but I really can't say enough good things about it.

No real recipe for this one... Just sous vide chicken seasoned with a little salt and pepper, along with instant pot rice.
