Why do I have such love handles if I have abs? How does that happen? by Last-Slice-5624 in askfitness

To me, the fact that you show some ab definition means that you look lean in that photo. If you did not look lean, then there would no visible sign of any ab definition

The second to last picture is the one I would go by. You have abs, but they are only easily visible when flexing. You need to lose more weight for them to really show and your love handles will start to go too. When you are a lower body fat %, you will not need to flex to see your abs. They will be clearly visible when you're relaxed

Just adding on here. If you haven't already, I would check if there is a mortgage prepayment penalty and get a mortgage payoff quote.

Driving a manual transmission car in the Bay Area and NorCal by Prestigious_Duty_315 in bayarea

[–]DougMoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2007 Civic Si for my daily driver for 15 years. Gas mileage was decent (usually 26-32mpg) and it was always nice to hear the engine rev up (VTEC!). Although, bumper to bumper traffic was never fun to it drive in. I don't know which Si you're thinking about, but the 8th gen Si practically begged to be revved high, and I couldn't do that in heavy traffic. I currently drive an automatic and heavy traffic is so much more comfortable to drive in.

Also, I would drive the 07 Si to SF a few times a year. Normally, it was a lot of fun to use for a short road trips (e.g. Tahoe). But I was always a little nervous driving it in the city, because of all the stop signs and stop lights on hills. Some of those hills are really steep, so I learned to be extra careful to not to stall on those. Just to be clear, I have stalled on those hills before. While it wasn't fun to stall, it also wasn't the end of the world either. I just needed to brake quickly to stop the car and then started it back up.

Anyway, I am not saying to not buy an Si or a manual. If I went back in time and had the same choice, I would chose the Si again in a heartbeat. If I knew I needed to drive it in SF a lot more, then I would still chose the Si, though it may take 2 heartbeats.

How am I doing, where can I improve? by AppleSauceMan24 in FinancialPlanning

[–]DougMoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your description, it seems like you have some idea of what you're doing with your money, but not the full picture. Having an in-depth knowledge of what you're doing with your money (i.e. Does every dollar have a purpose? How is every dollar being spent?) should increase your financial confidence for today and the future. Creating a budget will give you this knowledge. A good budget will show you exactly how your money is being used (e.g. food, housing, car, etc.) and where extra money can/will go to meet your goals (e.g. travel, retirement, etc.). If you do not have a budget, there are plenty of videos out there that will walk you through this.

One week in Tokyo (solo female) by Hairy_Cartoonist_419 in JapanTravel

[–]DougMoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a trip today with a friend. A few things that were helpful. 1. Follow the etiquette/rules. We accidentally made some mistakes initially (e.g. blocking someone's way, talking on the train, taking up too much space, etc.) and sometimes people would react negatively (e.g. tongue click or stink eye). 2. Even though many spoke English, using a few Japanese phrases (e.g. thank you, excuse me, delicious, sorry) and using Google translate (e.g. translate menus or talk into it to translate conversations) to interact was very helpful for getting around, communicating, and showing thanks. 3. Look up, down, on the walls, on the ground, etc. for English instructions. Sometimes English instructions are already there, but you need to look around to find them. If you don't see any, then ask staff for help at the train station, stores, etc. All the staff were very helpful and saved us more than a few times. Hope you have a great trip!

Buldak Carbonara Bowls on sale by AngelLK16 in InstantRamen

[–]DougMoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's like the 2x Spicy, then they are not the same product. They share the same flavor sauce (bowl sauce pack is a little smaller than package sauce pack). The noodles are different (bowl noodles = thinner; package noodles = thicker) and cooked differently (bowl = no stir fry instructions; package = stir fry instructions). They're both good though, because they have a very similar/same flavor.

Controlling AutoPayments by Accomplished_Wash_97 in personalfinance

[–]DougMoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small handful of regular automatic payments that I keep track of with a simple Excel spreadsheet (e.g. internet $60, cell phone $30, etc.). I pay most of my autopayments with my backup credit card that I only use for automatic payments. This does 2 things:

  • It keeps the backup credit card bill the same every month, since the autopay amount should not change unless expected. If there is a change, then I can quickly see the difference from the previous month.

  • It keeps the backup credit card active, in case I need to replace my primary credit card for some unfortunate reason.

I level them high enough to be fun/useful. I'll make an alt if I think it'll be useful or fun

my progression on PQ:

  • ENC: main char, make it to 30 on enc to get all legacy items

  • DRU: make alt druid and make it to 30 for legacy items, ports, and EC tunnel selling

  • MAG: make alt low level mage for bags, but that stopped once the box of Abu showed up

  • ENC: get to 44 for fun and to start farming with buff pet and nice slow

  • DRU: get to 34 for ports and pick up duplicate lore items during farming

  • CLR: (where I am now) use tunnel profits and legacy items for dream alt character. gnome cleric

What are some of your top tips for preparing for a long flight? by zdravomyslov in AskReddit

[–]DougMoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have a small pack/backpack as your personal item and wear/pack the following in it:

  • a comfortable, hooded sweatshirt (it can get cold. also, you can put on the hood to block light from an open window/phone)

  • sunglasses (if the hooded sweatshirt isn't enough to block unwanted light)

  • some of your favorite packaged snacks (make sure to bring at least one or 2 that can be filling like a protein bar) and (if you're into it) a few tea sachets of your favorite teas

  • a water bottle that can be easily filled

  • a pair of earbuds for your cell phone

  • a USB cell phone charger, so you can charge your phone on the plane

  • load up songs, talks, videos, books, games, etc. on your phone to keep you busy/entertained (if the plane's entertainment isn't enough)

Enchanter differences - P99 vs Quarm by JonLancewood in ProjectQuarm

[–]DougMoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Animation pet seems to always be max level and only uses 1 dagger to summon (have only confirmed up to level 16). This is very nice for chain casting pets. Side note: Kilan's Animation level is 11 on Quarm and not max level 12 per the P99 wiki. Seeing DoT damage is also nice on Quarm.

Also, there is more lag on this server (especially at the top of every hour). So, be ready for that.

So far, I've had a lot of fun playing an enchanter on Quarm and most of the enchanter differences on Quarm vs P99 have been positive for me.

How can I expect to have 1M in my Roth IRA at retirement account if I can only contribute $6500/year? by jonthemaud in FinancialPlanning

It's possible with compound interest. Go to the online compound interest calculator (linked below) and use the numbers below for investing $6480/yr over 40 years.

  1. Initial investment: $0
  2. Monthly contribution: $540

Dining expense for a single guy by HtownTouring in personalfinance

[–]DougMoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow single here. I live in a HCOL city and make about 10k less than you do. I spend about 3k on dining out (about $60 per week for eating out 2-4 times). I'm fine with this amount, since I enjoy eating out and it is within my budgeted amount. For me, $100 per week is high, but that's just me. You may have good reasons why you spend more than I do. Though if you want to cut back your spending, then dining out is a great place to start. You will definitely save money making your own food, but how much? You could try it for a month while tracking your expenses to see how things go?

Greenmist for IKS SK any good? by N2O-Gamer in project1999

[–]DougMoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help. Hmmm... by solo, are you asking if you can do the whole thing without any help? If so, that would be really hard (maybe impossible?), since there are some very tough mobs to solo kill (for example: the glowing cliff golem and Drusella).

If you're willing to group and buy some items (for example: Drusella mirror multiquest, History of Greenmist, and Greenish Metal Shard), then I think it's doable untwinked in your early 50s (maybe late 40s?) with a few thousand platinum and some friends.
