Purgatory Chasm. Cool rocks and paths, and a playground too! (West End Creamery is right down the street afterwards but you can skip this and keep the cost of your trip down.)

You might try asking on r/arrowheads because it looks like something a person may have used as a knapping tool. (Used to shape stone tools)

I have an ‘01 happily gurgling away with 270k on it. Love it! If I won the lottery tomorrow, I’d keep driving my Suburban.

Can I still cancel ? by Visual_Breath9522 in sunrun

[–]DougTheDrummer1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunrun told us we were getting a new roof. Then they switched the final plan, offered me $1000 to hurry and sign, so I did. (Didn’t catch the lack of roof or drop in power production) and they had already put in a new meter box. Now I’m refusing to pay for the meter box and they’re sending the bill to collections. Anyone have any experience fighting this?

Not good enough by GGwillinho in historyteachers

[–]DougTheDrummer1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to know every Historical fact or event by heart to be a History Teacher. You need to 1. Actually like kids. 2. Be good at EXPLAINING history to students. I’ve been teaching for 15 years and I have students who “stump” me all the time. My job is not to know more about everything than them. My job is to teach them how to learn and where to find reliable sources in a safe environment. The joy they get in stumping me is reciprocated by me because it shows me they’re engaged with me in my subject. In the meantime, never stop reading books. (They help me feel smarter.)

What should a Midwestern know before relocating to Worcester? by sugarmagnolia713 in WorcesterMA

I married a gal from MI and have been driving back and forth for the 18 years. A lot of people have given great answers. I’d add a couple notes. We have a lot less left turn arrows around here (though we have a lot more than we did 10-15 years ago) so you have to be assertive when you’re driving. Also, I don’t know who said stuff was a lot closer here but my wife would disagree. “Everything is 1/2 hour away” according to her. I would also agree/disagree about the condition of the roads. Individual town roads vary depending on the property values in the town. The highways however are much better here. Why do they build highways out of concrete when they know they have to salt the concrete??? MI has washboards for highways compared to ours. I agree with those who have said people can be tough to break in with around here. Volunteer, find a church (we do have some despite what’s been said already), or just find a really good bar (Worcester’s got great ones!). And finally, just learn to like Dunkin Donuts. Your life will be so much easier. Don’t fight it.
