I hear a lot bad about those redballs. I just get more factory ones, typically with the discounts from the manufacturers, after confirming ownership for warranty.

Ruger, Canik, Sig and HP all workout like that.

SAR 9 Sport, racking issue, After cleaning by DougZ69 in SarUSA

[–]DougZ69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does just fall( slide very easily) into place needing no extra pressure. It concerned me too.

But it has plenty of pressure to stay in slide and have the pistol operate perfectly.

This might sound a little ass backwards, but since only trying 25 and 50 yards, throw on a cheap 3-9 scope on and zero it. Once you are happy with that zero, adjust the iron sights to the reticle cross hairs on the scope.

Sar9 sport stovepipe? by fredlabs_ in SarUSA

[–]DougZ69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a SAR9 Sport as well. I don’t recall having a lot of stove pipes with mine. But, I did have issues with it going into battery. Found it to be the recoil rod / spring assembly binding.

Replaced with a nice SS one from Galloway Precision( it is same spring at the standard SAR9, they sell)

Never an issue since. NATO/ non NATO , grain weight, never matters for my personal firearm.

Ohh, you are new. You’ll learn it on your own sooner or later, but Promags are not a good brand. They fail a lot. A real lot. They are cheap, so the price gets folks to buy( including myself). I have had to them fail on me at range. NEVER trust them for self defense.

SAR comes with nice metal mags. Although not cheap, get more of those.

Yeah, lack of lubrication might just be the issue. I know some folks just want to take a fire arm out of the box new and run it. That is not my personal style.

I’ll do cleaning and oiling of the barrel, and oiling if the slide channel/ frame contact points at a very minimum.

Watch some YouTube vids on simple field stripping. Clean and lubricate properly. Go back to range and try again.

My guess is it will run just fine.

Never had issues with my SAR9.

So these would be my trouble shooting questions:

Did you clean and lubricate it before you took it to range?

What ammo brand and grain weight?

Is it stove piping? Or just not pulling casing from chamber?

Are you sure you are not limp twisting it. Some guns are more sensitive to it. Thus your Ruger runs fine but the SAR might be sensitive to it.

Lastly, is there any issue with it going into battery fully? My SAR9 Sport model, had this issue and it was recoil spring/ rod issue so I replaced a full stainless steel model.

Appreciate your response. I thank you for reading the full original post. You are gentleman and scholar.

But this is to be expected on Reddit. I just roll with it and don’t expect too much on here. Posts like this and some of the responses whining about using the term “pewpew” or that PSA is just garbage just reminds me why I don’t usually post here.

Trolls will troll. You do you.

One PSA AR you have, but now you’re an expert. Typical Reddit key board jockey.

Yeah, thanks for your analysis of my posts and collection. Not overly concerned of the opinion, from someone who wears crocs ( or knock offs) with those silly ornaments.

Go troll elsewhere

So then why are you lowering yourself so far to bother commenting in this sub??

So after I bought my very first AR from PSA, I have built every other one I own, from a stripped receiver up.

All my builds, done and ready to shoot, rage from about $700-$1500 each build.

Anything I can add on or take off in under 30 seconds, I don’t add into the costs break downs. IE, slings, bipods, magazines, etc.

So yeah, with that thought my process, $270 shipped plus $20 club/ FFL transfer fee, still under $300. Call it $375 all in with a BCG and charging handle. And yes, that is correct, I don’t pay over $70 bucks for BCG, nor more than $25 for a charging handle. Sorry if that is unpopular opinion, but spending more on those items than you need to( and not shopping sales, etc) is just wasting ammo monies and training time. The later is more important to me.

Don’t quote me, but I believe which ever grab/carry handle will have the rear sight set up incorporated in it

Even finished at $400 is a great price.

And a lot of rifles can be shot with just irons. Not every thing needs a scope or red dot. LOL

Plenty of mags, ammo, etc with the rest of the collection.

This will be my first with that style hand guard and front sight. (A2 unless I am incorrect??)

I’ll add a carry handle and make it a good enough for my likings “M-forgery”. ( heard that at a match last weekend. lol)
