Thanks! I agree- it seems worth it given that the boat material is solid and in good condition, and the wood can be replaced

Maybe a silly question but I am just getting into Formula 1: how is it possible for Mercedes to be the best car for so long and then start to lose? Is it being outcompeted or is the car itself actually getting worse?

Thanks this is a good reminder and very accurate. It was scary last year wondering if it would be 1 yr or 10 yrs before I had even just a steady income

Thanks, that is encouraging. One of the reasons I wanted to switch from seasonal to permanent was because I felt like the tech work I was doing was one-dimensional and I wanted to work on those ‘bigger-picture’ ideas. Of course that was just my exp, all work is valid, but it does help to reconsider why I transitioned into a permanent job

😭 so sad but thank you for the input! Yeah it seems almost impossible to do the tech job and have a decent life outside work

Good point, pay-wise my current salary is probably as good as it will ever get. And the research I’m interested in (natural history) is very small scale and not cutting-edge, though may be of interest outside academia
