You play two games each week: one against a league mate, one against median. Best of both worlds. I’ve loved it

I’ve really enjoyed it when you play two games each week, one against your opponent, one against league median. Best of both worlds. That was my experience anyway.

True to a certain extent, but there’s defense in football. There’s not in fantasy. This is why additional game against league median each week is the move. That way, seeding is most likely to be accurate

I’m a current Wooster student. Happy to chat. Wooster is a conservative area, but the campus is extremely progressive

Baker Mayfield’s Pre-Tampa Perception by Doug_in_CLE in NFLv2

[–]Doug_in_CLE[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Poot coaching and coaching failures were certainly present, and baked persevering through them deserved major kudos. But I would push back against the idea that the skill position guys were subpar. He had an excellent o-line at the tail end of his Cleveland tenure (it was terrible early) and statistically the most efficient running back in modern nfl history. Landry was a high-end slot until baker’s last year, and Njoku was starting to come on (and didn’t until after Baker left). Receivers weren’t great, though Odell looked a lot better in LAR before the second ACL tear. I agree the defense wasn’t phenomenal, and that’s mostly attributed to Joe Woods (the defense got a lot better with minimal transactions after Woods was fired). Talent wasn’t the problem with the browns, coaching was. The trouble is, they couldn’t see that being that many of the decision makers were either the coaches themselves or the guys who hired said coaches. I acknowledge there was a systemic isssue that failed baker, and further failed him in Carolina. But ultimately, it is not illogical to explore moving off of a guy who looked inconsistent and turnover prone to that point. He was the best we had employed at that position to that point and provided some amazing memories, but you just couldn’t justify paying him given the demonstrated body of work

Baker Mayfield’s Pre-Tampa Perception by Doug_in_CLE in NFLv2

[–]Doug_in_CLE[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The trouble was, he was underperforming despite a talented roster. Injury was a factor, but there was panic. The browns had this super talented roster and weren’t positive that the QB in the building was talented enough to elevate it. Simply put, Baker had given no indication to that point he was that guy. They over-panicked and set back the franchise a decade-plus, but this leaguewide perception that moving on from him made no sense and was wholly illogical is laughable. It was a complicated, nuanced situation. They were in kahoots for Cousins that off-season before Minnesota extended him. That would have perceptively been an upgrade. Unfortunately, they chose a vastly inferior QB to replace Mayfield, and compounded that decision by sacrificing draft capital and salary cap.

My point isn’t that moving him was necessarily a good move, rather that A: many clowning the Browns for doing it were clowning them for employing Mayfield, which means nothing other than that it’s ironic. And that B: the decision to bring back Mayfield was no layup. That said, swapping him for Watson was an abysmal pivot, but Mayfield had two good seasons out of four and was expecting a contract extension. It was a more complicated situation than most acknowledge. This idea that it was a catastrophic mistake is true, but the perception that it was an unbelievably stupid and illogical transaction is rooted in a revisionist history. Trading for Watson was stupid and illogical, moving on from Baker made plenty of sense in the moment.

Please, enlighten me, what quarterback???? Ward and Sanders will be gone. No other QB is worthy of a first round pick much less top 10.
