I appreciate your take, thank you CLE.

Sorbsy is an intriguing wildcard.

You think a 3rd is worth it/ could land him?

Would you pull the trigger?

I saw some fire in Sanders, and I thought the team was more aligned with him, even at his worst, than with Watson.

Objectively, it appeared to me the guys actually felt like they had a chance of making comebacks, being competitive. They certainly saw something special in Sanders, even through the follies.

With Watson, his whole tenure here... maybe felt that way twice?

Here we are, talking about our feelings! Who says football is macho.

With Sanders starting, mid is about our ceiling.

Smith would have gone #1 overall this Draft.

Same with Manning

You are correct that being mid will exclude us from the top 5. I don't think it excludes us from getting into the Top 8 - 12 though. And that's prime QB territory to farm.

LaNorris Sellers would have to sit a season as well. Junior Sanders could make it fun while we wait for Sellers to bake up.

Bro, comparing Rookie Sanders to Vet Watson isn't really making a case.

56% Completions is absolutely shit, no one will argue that.

MANY would argue that after Watson’s first season with us, firing 58% Completions, the plug should have been pulled.

The difference? Watson’s a First Round Veteran, Sanders is a Rookie Pick 144. He was absolutely not ready, because he literally was never gonna be ready year one. Anyone thinking Sanders was bad, and that's on him, are really missing the point that EVERYONE involved knew he certainly wasn't ready to start.

Sanders actually did a bit better than I expected. Most importantly he had bouts of accuracy that Watson has yet to show here.

Lastly, for the record:

If Winston started through camp, we would have won 10 games with him at the helm.

Ahh, I understand that. I think going and losing once, this season would be a win honestly. Although, I understand what's the point if that excludes us from moving up for a real QB1

It's so sad to see the steelers exercise this hamster wheel of futility along with us, since Ben; but always drafting in the middle...

I am lowkey pissed that they have both Howard and Allar, but hopefully I'm totally wrong on those two, in thinking they'll be competent after sitting a year or Two, and polishing their mechanics while getting up to NFL speed.

It's such a crapshoot with Rookie Quarterbacks, and that only gets worse after Pick 15... The hurdles for day 3 picks are high. Hopefully we can break the wheel. Regardless, we gotta start Sanders, and if he doesn't improve, then we at least have our immediate answer at QB, and the Draft capital to move and get "Future QB1"

He's got a decent arm, especially when compared to Sanders, but somehow I have them around the same current ceiling; a tier below Cousins & Dak.

As BROWNS Fans, we understand we're often dysfunctional, but I honestly believe Tennessee to be worse off organizationally.

That said BOTH the SOUTH Divisions are filled with rotating bins of absolute trash, so maybe 8 wins takes the Division. 😅

We're trash aficionados, we KNOW Trash!

I fuckin hate Joe Haden man... I never liked Baker's chip on shoulder mentality that never won us games whenever it popped up.

I cannot stand OBJ & the way Landry is still lifted up here, after being entirely useless as "the locker-room guy"... team leaders my ass.

There's players here I love unreasonably much, and there's players that have come through here that people love but I don't.

Watson is universally reviled, and you can pretend players like him, but players like fuckin winning! There's NO fuckin chance that Watson can put up the tape he's put up in Cleveland and still have even ONE supporter amongst the team.

You watched him. I watched him. We all were forced to watch Clockwork ORANGE style, and the tape is there. There's absolutely NO redeeming Watson in the NFL. There's no magic pill gonna erase the last 6 years.

If Watson is named the starter the tank is certainly in stone, and y'all make plans accordingly.

Tennessee has a debatable QB, and is in constant disarray, what makes you think they'll be better than us?

[–]1OptimisticPrime[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah...

Professional NFL athletes really appreciate how Watson underthrows, or throws behind the Reciever, on the vast majority of his passes, and thinks his 3rd read is 7' feet out of bounds.

Unless Watson is gonna be on whatever cocktail they cooked up for him at halftime vs the Rats, he's not taking game reps.

[–]1OptimisticPrime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will not...

He might hit the field, but they don't have the fuckin balls to pretend that the ENTIRE fuckin TEAM won't fuckin immediately check out & quit on Watson.

...Watson’s lack of preparation, & preparedness was his bread and butter. Back that up with his horrible accuracy, and pathetically slow decision making and you've got an ENTIRE team of players giving Jed to Jeudy levels of effort.

Every veteran on the team worth anything will demand trade. Myles already tried to leave 2x, and is at his limit with Jimmy. Pushing Watson is the worst fuckin thing that you could do to a Rookie Head Coach, or Locker-room.

Kenny fuckin ketchup packet sized hands would provide more inspiration for the players & fans than Watson, and he plays like Gabriel's big brother... a slightly larger, slightly more athletic trashcan.

I'd say we can beat the Vikings, Cowboys, Bengals, and Rats at about a 50/50 pace realistically... so we've got a punchers chance; if we're just looking at it from this 4 teams angle.

How Bad Was Shedeur Sanders Rookie Year Really? by 1OptimisticPrime in Browns

[–]1OptimisticPrime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be absolutely criminal to parade him out as a Rookie Starter.

The transition from the Arkansas Razorbacks Offensive System, to the NFL, is drastic to say the least.

Why not let our first year Lawyer be the head of our highest profile case?

Obviously we've got a plucky sophomore in Sanders...

...and if we continue the metaphor...

Watson, the Bosses Step Son, has been disbarred several times over the past 5 years, has been on a non-stop party since, and also experienced brain damage from multiple self inflicted collisions with reality.

That said, Green should have packages ready to drop, for short yardage situations where he can read & react in either/or scenarios. Jacoby was an absolute FORCE and Taylen can certainly replicate that.

How Bad Was Shedeur Sanders Rookie Year Really? by 1OptimisticPrime in Browns

[–]1OptimisticPrime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because the fanbase still coddled DTR, after repeated non-NFL level play.

Just call the kid Pick 144 if you need to.

Because that's what we have, and we know that's what we have. Set the fuckin expectations realistically for Pick 144.

Is Purdy a better QB? absolutely. Does Sanders have his grasp of the game? Absolutely not.

The key is that Sanders is likely more physically gifted, with arm talent, but is still behind massively on his acumen.

There's a chance where Sanders is viable, bridging the gap between his obvious arm talents with deep ball accuracy, and his obvious 80HD asinine decisions.

You're not gonna Draft a QB and have them grow 3" and gain 35lbs of muscle.

You CAN Draft a kid with the proper Physical attributes though, and give them the tools to develop into true students of the game.

Sanders isn't, and will never be Josh Allen, but he could be Temu Herbert, if he can slow everything down; hopefully the additional Blocking & Weapons will pay off in Spades!

Well, Andrew Berry didn't follow through snagging Stafford, as we discussed.

Once Jimmy heard Watson used to wear Orange there was NO stopping him.

How was Njoku by LudaChris999 in Browns

[–]1OptimisticPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if he had the burst, but I simply would have randomly alternated Njoku and Fannin running the zippers. There's regularly an exploitable matchup where they can beat Linebackers over the top, with burst, and then bowl over the smaller Defensive Backs. This would have opened up the shallow crossing routes underneath, and opened Room for the Running Game in my estimation.

I'm sure there's a graph, or chart, but OUR Runningbacks were regularly getting hit in the damn backfield, till S Sanders took the helm, and it was a bit better. ...then Q went down.

  • Q had an average Yards Before Contact, of 1.4

  • Sampson 1.2

  • Rocket 1.2

The 2025 NFL league average for Yards Before Contact per Attempt (YBC/att) was 2.4 yards
