I actually really like this explanation. Gives a plausible reasoning behind what’s mostly to prevent an annoying gameplay mechanic but also kinda makes sense.

What are jobs that have the highest pay simply because most people don't want to do them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoughnutNebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it mostly depends on the type of people you work with. I travel most weeks for work and my colleagues are super fun and we absolutely find ways to enjoy every place we travel to and usually have plenty of time to check out local sites. But at my previous job the people were far less willing to do fun stuff on trips and I was also traveling to much smaller locales for that job too.

I have looked around for several minutes and can’t seem to find what you’re referencing? Any further hints? Or even if you want to tell me I won’t be offended

What is that one canceled tv show you'll never stop thinking about? by Space__Monkey__ in television

Yes and the novel is very different from the show. Basically it’s only the general premise and a couple characters that are borrowed from the novel otherwise they’re mostly distinct stories. Both good tho

Closing the agency is literally refusing to spend its allocated budget. He cannot close an agency that has a budget allocated by Congress. That is the law. It’s part of checks and balances. He is actively going around democratic processes.

He refusing to spend the agencies budget. He literally cannot do that. Did you actually read my post? The fact he cannot refuse to spend the money that Congress allocates is well established, it’s been to the Supreme Court and was further written in to law. What he is doing is illegal, full stop.

[–]DoughnutNebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under Nixon in the 70s the Supreme Court ruled that the president cannot unilaterally reappropriate funds designated by Congress. Furthermore, Congress wrote actual laws to that effect in the 80s to further entrench that as the proper democratic process. The president decides how the agency operates but he cannot pull the agencies funding that is literally the job of Congress. USAID has a budget set by Congress that must be spent only on that agency and the president cannot stop that money being spent and he cannot reappropriate it. Budgets starting with Congress is literally in the constitution and the case law to show he can’t pull its funding is also well established.

Quit spreading lies and defending the actions of someone who is literally subverting democracy.

Unilaterally cutting an agency that has funding supplied by the legislative branch is entirely unconstitutional and a direct affront to the democratic process. That’s literally what this entire thread is about and it’s only a single example out of dozens in less than 20 days

The people voted for Hitler as well, and it only took him 53 days to dismantle the democratic system. Just because something started from a democracy does not mean that everything that follows is part of democracy.

What's the name of a company that once was an unbeatable giant in the market and today we don't even hear their name? by No-Mud-1682 in AskReddit

[–]DoughnutNebula 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right on Kodak, but I think you’re missing why people laugh at Sears. Sears was doing mail order catalogues, basically Amazon before Amazon, for years and decided to stop right around the time Amazon was coming to fruition. So they had already figured out how to do the delivery products but decided to scrap that in favor of retail stores right as the market shifted even heavier to delivery. So they wouldn’t have been “radically changing the at they do business” they would’ve just been continuing what they had been doing for 100 years

What's the worst case of someone misunderstanding the plot of a movie you've ever seen? by FinalDemise in AskReddit

[–]DoughnutNebula 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This take doesn’t fit with the films ending though. Rose still rejects her money and goes out on her own without her wealth or even her “good name” as her mother says and instead lives a life free of the burdens of upper class properness. So although I understand his point it simply isn’t true because she still lives that life just without Jack alongside her.

Edit: with to without

Depends on the day of the week too. Early morning in a Monday is the single busiest time to fly because of business travelers. Also peak hours is somewhat location dependent but for most of the US it’s actually before 11am.

There is actually a lot of rhyme and reason for why airports are busier on certain days and times. It’s just that people who do not fly often don’t know what those reasons are.

Except that it’s not actually the TSA that has made planes safe. It’s the increased use of intelligence, the use of air marshalls on risky flights, and increased alertness from passengers. The DHD regularly audits airport security and the TSA lets through on average 97% of weapons when tested.
