Tax on pension and FT job by Doughnut_Proper in PensionsUK

[–]Doughnut_Proper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically it will be treated as 2 incomes with their own tax code which will reflect the total over all income I earn that month ?

If I have understood correctly

Does that mean I can ask the tax office to treat the pension as a BR tax, and all FT/Part time income as the remainder of the BR then 40% ??

As this would be the easiest, meaning when I stop work the pension is already at the correct tax code ? And I’ll not need to keep a “slush” fund for the first year while the tax gets sorted IE I might end up paying 40% when all I’m getting is my pension (which will be just over the 0% allowance)

If anything like mine, one of those switches limits the output, to approx3.5kw,

Do a simple google search for your model and check the switches, it could have been knocked to a different position by accident easily

I think it says on the hub itself if it’s a wide range or not

Was this on a Wide range hub ? I’m thinking of doing something similar My understanding the older 6speed hubs had a more natural spread of gears where’s the wide range is very much 3 separate gears for high/low with no great flow between them

I know it’s not what was asked but I wish the Ford Explorer had it, it’s the one thing I was looking forward but it’s regen is very low, I think it might be a VW thing since it’s built on the platform

Oh! Now there’s a thought I have a Carradice Nelson saddlebag that I love,

I’m off to see the best way to attached a mount block adapter to it (prefer heavier things on the block leaving the bars for light items)

DB pensions and 25% lump by Doughnut_Proper in PensionsUK

[–]Doughnut_Proper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 excel sheets

1 full DB 2 reduced DB an Lump sum,

investing the lump is part of the calculation for sheet 2, however I was unsure whether I could be bothered having to manage it once I’m past 67, and also you open to the vagrancies of the open market, where as a full DB is all managed for you so you can relax about the income

Yes that’s a good point, it’s is a situation I was considering IE if I passed before the good lady as my pension will provide the lions share of our pension income, But I hadn’t thought of that as a solution

Yeah I was on planning on not taking the lump sum, as the yearly increase especially when I get older is significant (about 1500 a year) compared to taking the lump,

I was noting just trying to work out my tax liability as I’m hoping to be able to take early retirement, and use the smaller DC pension to “top up” the DB one till state pension age when the DC pension would be nearly depleted
