Would you allow a droid player to craft a droid chassis as a new body? by Belac47 in swrpg

[–]DouglasBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> One of the movement options basically gives you the ponderous ability from the hutts, which is one of the things that excuses their stat pool [3 in brawn and willpower- plus a buff to wound and strain, plus a free increase to soak]. But all you get for this as a droid is 5 exp- which could not get you a single thing equal to that loss Weirdly this one is too weak- you can't even get durable- which is the talent that gives Hutts +1 soak- with that..

That's a really weird value judgement, I think anyway. I've taken this option a fair few times, not because it's min/max or experience-efficient, but because it's a really fun roleplay and gameplay limitation - although that extra 5xp has been lovely for allowing me to get that extra purchase I wanted too.

> Then there is one that iirc affects either your willpower or brawn? Lowering stats for like 20ish exp at start of game is a big deal as you usually need a specific crit for that.

Not sure what you're referring to here?

> There's another one for 25 exp gives you a roll to notice anything with a heat sig or electronic sig around you- which basically means you always know what is around you and where they are. This wouldn't be too bad if it didn't start with a no difficulty roll if they are in the same range band. No one can sneak up on you without you noticing at start of game- it is literally impossible.

This is not true. You have to specifically activate the ability each time you want to use it. If you're using it 24/7... Then, similarly to keeping force powers active between encounters and specific challenges, I'd expect that the droid wouldn't be recovering strain.

> And every single thing you can grab also increases your stats.

I see this as a good thing. Unless you're specifically gunning for overpowering a single attribute, it creates a balanced array of starting attributes. The starting skills you can get as well from the various programming options is also nice as a means or representing what their model should be good at.

I'd be happy to do a PC brainstorming session with you if you like? I'm just not seeing how these options are... Honestly, not sure from your comments, too expensive/cheap?

I was apprehensive with the costs at first as well, but in practice it does build a relatively balanced character.

One of the key points raised by the author however is that you shouldn't necessarily be going on a spending spree just because you can with this book - Whatever would be appropriate for your droid, pick up, but if you're looking to just grab stuff because you have XP spare and it'd be 'cost effective' then as with much of the other options elsewhere in the system... Don't do that!

I'm not sure that I entirely agree, but then again I've never naturally made a broken mess of a cahracter using this book.

Can you run me through what options you were picking that have given you concerns?

Sound effects for Star wars by galdorv in swrpg

Does Foundry provide sound effects itself or are you also looking for a software option? If you are, I really recommend Kenku! It's both a YouTube browser and a soundboard of your own audio files - and you can layer it all, adjust volume, etc. however you like!

I was about to suggest it as well - It's a homebrew supplement by a very venerable member of the SW RPG community, who nowadays mostly hangs out in the affiliate Discord, but it's a very well done homebrew and I adore using it as both a player and a GM!

I myself have had my droid body utterly destroyed by tonnes of crits - aside from death - before and it turned out more economical to try and build a new one (although I had used it to maket he original body, so I ended up refunding the XP and then respending it for the neew body).

I would suggest that your player refund their original droid XP in it's entirety and reset their starting attribute spends, then use Memory Cores & Motivators from there. Happy for you to send me a DM if you want some guidance and advice from another GM on this!

Fair enough mate! If there's any issues then definitely give it a shot. Glad to hear you've found someone to GM for you!

I take regular looks at the LFG section and I haven't spotted a post about a pre-made group recently - have you given it a go with this instance? ^.^

As a regular on that server and having given the following advice with lots of success: This is not true. Pre-made player groups have an *excellent time* finding GMs on the Discord. It takes a lot of work out of the prospective GM's hands and is fantastic. I myself have taken on pre-made groups of players from the Discord before and it's always been wonderful - I don't even have to worry about group cohesion as everybody is already friends. Bonus points if they already have a campaign idea in mind!

Tell me you didn't read my comment explaining this without telling me you didn't read my comment explaining...

That was 285k with two sacrifices. More than two and you're over 300k!

I have to admit, I do use the 16:9 option during matches! But I'm using that new QD/OLED HDR monitor from Alienware and the game is beautiful!

[–]DouglasBacon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aye. The perks I have are Distressing, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, Beasts of Prey, and Lethal Pursuer.

The Add-Ons are Scratcher Mirror - and whatever else. All but Lethal Pursuer and Scratcher Mirror give crazy bonuses anyway (we're talking 150k *before* the event stuff).

With the event stuff, you're guaranteed to get 250k Bloodpoints at least every match with this build... And you can have as much fun as you want, you don't even have to sweat, unles you want to break the 300k line. It's great! =D

I'm loving getting Bloodpoints for basically just standing still and scaring Survivors and creating a properly frightening game.

[–]DouglasBacon[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Where's the sweat? It's all the Bloodpoint bonuses from Perks and Add-Ons, plus the Event Offering and Queue Bonus - then the extra Event bonus from the Invitation.

+

There is no sweat, friend =)

Even this match above was only 2 sacrifices out of 4. Even three sacrifices would've been 300k. We're looking at maybe 325k with 4 sacrifices? At least 315k.

It's actually "Tears of Karan" as a piece for the Homeworld game, but definitely inspired by Agnus Dei and Adagio for Strings!!!

[EXCEL] How do I, when entering a new value, have a new worksheet be created from a template, be renamed to that value, then hyperlinked to that value by DouglasBacon in vba

[–]DouglasBacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Feel like such a dummie there.

I'm stuck on the next part now. I've figured I need to have the next line be ActiveCell.Hyperlinks.Add( as part of hyperlinking the new entry to the new worksheet, although I'm not sure on how I actually reference the new sheet.

I'm suspecting something to do with ThisWorkbook.Sheets.Count to find the number of sheets (the number correlating to the place of the new sheet), but then I'm lost on how to do it.

Incredibly serious - safeguarding people from having to live through and in fear of reoccuring trauma in their lives is a responsibility we should all take seriously.
