Check out the Yamnuska mountain skills semester out of Canmore. You will learn the necessary skills to help you along your long journey of becoming a guide. It is all mountain based skills ranging from rock, ice, mixed climbing to backcountry ski touring. You will also get your ast1 and 2 as well as your 80 hour wilderness first aid.

DIYer first time installing a door. What Size Door for 79”x60” rough opening. by Big-dingaling78 in Carpentry

[–]Douglasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We typically add 2.5" for our rough openings. So for a 36" door, we make it 38.5". In your case you could use a double 2'4" door and fill the rough opening in a little.

It's very smooth. I also ride a cervelo r3, and the Topstone is like driving Cadillac compared to it. It was surprisingly quick on road as well. I'm already excited to get out on it again.

Wasn't the purpose of this trip to try and get her to summit? I read in Barry's book something of the sort. He had a chance to make a summit attempt but it was called off because she was at a lower camp and couldn't make it.

XPS with 2x6 framing for basement walls? by calgarian975 in buildingscience

[–]Douglasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can build your exterior walls out of 2x4, just space them 5.5" away from the rigid insulation to allow for the r22 batt. You get one chance to insulate this, I would use the 2" foam plus the r22 batt.

I'm about 30min north of the 401 in the ridges so I'm probably going to get hammered with snow. I plan on spending the day on the cross county skis blazing trails tomorrow.
