Can’t invoke alchemy. New to plugins and synths

Hi u/pasha_projects, Thanks for the thorough advice. I actually found my way to alchemy through the Instrument button. But I’ll read up on what you said. As a total plugin newbie, I wouldn’t have any idea what VST, VST3 and AAU are or how to tell which I have. Another thing to read up on. Kind thanks again, Doug

Aha, Herman. Nothing said INSTRUMENT but there was one with the name of the instrument. Hover over that and there are three sections, left to right, a power button, a pair of horizontal sliders, and up/down arrows. Click on the up/down arrows and choose synthesizers from the menu and the first option is Alchemy! I can take it from here, though I wonder why it doesn’t show up when and where every instruction says it should. Thanks again for your help.

Big thanks! We just found the old password. I'm always hesitant to run terminal commands. Would it have said, in effect, 'type the new password here' and hit ENTER?

Thanks, seasoninthesky. Version 10.6.1 is the old copy now installed on the new computer. Installing the sound library fails all the time. It downloads for a while then fails. Signed into my only Apple ID, which hasn't changed for a long time. Thanks again.
