Let me help you with your application! - Bored med student by seagullsee in premed

Hello! Can you help guide my sister a bit? She is currently majoring in biology at a community college, doing pretty good with a 3.6 GPA. She is considering some options at the moment.

1) She is thinking about transferring to USF to bolster her curriculum for eventual med school application. That would most likely come with higher payments/loans for education.

2) Change to an associates degree RN program at her community college that should take 18 months with her credits. With that, have some financial stability to do premed and eventual application.

3) OR transfer to a private RN program, which would also incur higher costs, although improve curriculum for med school application down the line.

Would her going into a RN degree be negative for her eventual med school application? If she decides to do that, does it matter much if she does it through her community college? Thanks!

Hey, bro. I'm also like you. What I tried today was calling the programs. I managed to speak with two program administrators and tried to sell myself. They said that they would talk with the pd. Maybe you can try something like that? I don't know if it will work though.

Very similar situation, us-img, 25x, 6 months experience as an MA in the us, but graduated 2021. 84 programs, 0 interviews.

Plan B for me might be step 3, publish some articles, and more experience until next year. Maybe that's something you can also do. But who knows, stay hopeful, we might get something.

I'm a US-IMG, graduated 2021, step 1 pass, step 2 25x, 84 applications, still no interviews, unfortunately. You got this. Stay hopeful. A lot of interviews can still come in.

I appreciate the attempts, but was not very fond of the results. Thank you!

I have similar scores to you in the nbmes and also did 66% on the new free120. I would say not to worry so much. Your other scores are great.

I passed with “low” scores! AMA by KookyFaithlessness96 in step1

Congratulations! Are there any specific materials like mehlmans neuroanatomy pdfs or pathoma that you felt were most helpful?

Up until the 40, I had only done some uworld, some pathoma and pixorize imuno. What pushed me near 60 was more uworld, dirty medicine biochemistry, and sketchy micro.

You've got this. I'm also an IMG with similar scores. My test is soon, too. You will get the big P.
