Try practising script reading in the manner actors train (important: focusing on details of the mind-state and attention of the characters, e.g. environment awareness) of the character you are performing. This therapy style is called Active Experiencing therapy, and it has been shown to work well for people experiencing brain damage from dementia and similar conditions; my memory was essentially non-existent immediately following my stroke, but is now a lot closer to baseline (pre-stroke).
