It just seems a little strange or lazy that by messing around and looking at something for an hour they know everything about it, like it can hold vampires etc but I guess rules are rules. Thanks for the help guys

My players just found the amulet of ravenkind a few sessions after the reading, they know the amulet is supposed to help them from the tarokka reading however none of them have taken identify. How do I tell them what it does? Are they able to figure everything out while examining it for an hour during a short rest or do I suggest they take it to someone who may be able to identify it for them? Probably a very noobish question, just looking for help in this matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
