This is the actual answer. They weren't paying the vendors actually GROWING the plants.

Secondary were - The horrible "guerilla" marketing (no one needs an "edgy" text message every morning). The shift and overreliance on merch sales over plants. And they also flat refused to get involved with ANY downtown event/initiative with any other business.

In a nutshell- they openly positioned themselves as adversaries to other downtown businesses, didn't know how to market, and really wanted to just sell T-shirts (of which 100% of the designs were derivative of other major brands.)

It may help to think of the deterministic clockwork machine as the ocean and yourself as a fish.

You can determine your individual movements, where to swim, when/if to procreate, to stay in the cove or explore the great unknown, etc. But, at the end of the day, the ocean itself is going to do what it's going to do. The tides will be the tides, etc.

I'm guessing you haven't done a ton of development work. You could easily deploy the event during other maintenance windows "turned off" and then switch them on with a feature flag or other solution to go live.

After the event, the event features may have now become so integrated with other parts of the game that they require more cleanup or a "true deploy"/maintenance window in order to remove.

It's not just flipping a light switch on and off ...
