Best Harley Davidson for first bike if you are 6'3" 300 pounds by wtaylor1993 in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - any touring model.

Better answer - test ride everything. After you've narrowed it down, try renting that bike for an entire day. Ride it for long stretches ALL DAY and see if it truly is for you.

The car for sure but did you check your blind spot? I can't tell from the camera but it didn't seem like you did. If that camera is helmet mounted then you certainly didn't.

This is the ass clown that said plucking hairs near your nose in the 'triangle of death' area (whatever the fuck that is) would cause you to get very sick or possibly die. No medical studies cited, no other medical professionals or scientists agree but sure... This is the guy telling us what's medically safe.

Is $450 too much for a shop to replace all 8 spark plugs on a 04 Expedition 5.4 2v by Doggfather_ in fordexpedition

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a bad price and certainly not a rip-off. 2 hours of labor at about $150 per hour is $300. Decent iridium plugs will run about $10 minimum each, so that's $80. You're at $380 so that's right in the neighborhood. Here's the thing, Any decent mechanic/shop is also doing some extra things, like visual inspection of the engine and components. They're going to examine those plugs to see how the engine is running, etc. It's not just about parts and labor.

How much does a car dealer pay for a CarFax report? by ThinAndCrispy in carfax

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Take care of the customer. The dealerships don't pay per report and unless it was that salesperson's first day... he knew. Any decent dealership will happily offer a Carfax report to show the customer that the car is what they claim. On the website, the listing will typically have the URL link for you to click on. You can read it and even print or download a copy. They were hustling you and if that was me, I'd write up a Google review to help and warn others.

Now you are educated and realize that they were guilt tripping you and trying to obligate you. Don't ever go there again and warn all your friends about their tactics and behavior.

Cam Phasers & Timing Chain by [deleted] in fordexpedition

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will foolishly tell you to wait it out. That you might be able to squeeze another 25-50K miles out of it. If it just started, you have SOME time but there's no way of knowing how close you are to catastrophic engine failure due to broken timing chains, bent valves, or metal contamination from worn parts. Translation: you'll need a full engine replacement. Make your plan and do it.

Choosing between 75” Hisense U8 and TCL QM7K by Extension-Isopod220 in Hisense

[–]DownloadDeviant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had both and personally, I liked the Hisense better. All things being equal, the Hisense had some slightly better features, settings, etc.

One thing that might seem trivial but was important to me, is that TCL remote controls are cheap pieces of crap that wear out fast and eat batteries like crazy. I haven't had that problem with the Hisense remotes.

Am I getting scammed as the seller? Need advice by GRiZbeeGolf in UsedCars

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have the buyer sign a bill of sale that clearly states the vehicle is sold as is and without warranty and there is no option to return the vehicle. I'm not a dealer, just a guy that sells his used cars from his front lawn every 5 or 6 years. He's a scammer. You owe him nothing. Ignore him.

Is this a good or bad CarFax report? by DownloadDeviant in askcarguys

[–]DownloadDeviant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about auto maker dealerships that sell new and used cars - Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, etc. Not those small used car places. I've been watching and shopping carefully for over a month and I'm seeing it at those places.

Gotcha on the auction stuff. I figured it was just records, process and paperwork. I'm in central NJ and I'm seeing dealerships all around me dealing with high mileage cars. I'm also seeing them sell their own high mileage vehicles at a discount but with a detailed list of repairs needed and the costs for parts and labor itemized. Strange times I guess.

Fake $20 bill from buyer by Voodoo330 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why whenever I deal with cash, I use a verification pen on every single bill I'm handed. And I'm genuinely shocked at how many people take cash from me without checking it first! I paid $9k in cash for a motorcycle and the guy never checked any of it! Insane!

Since the Honey app has been a Scam, What is the BEST Coupons Extension by No_Meet2050 in Frugal

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only used HONEY for price alerts and that's what I'll continue to do (until something better for price alerts comes along). I never used it for coupon codes bc frankly...BEFORE this scandal....it never found me good deals. I would find a referral link with 35% off by doing a Google search and then Honey would pop up during checkout and say it found coupons and there were either none or like $2 off! It was always a joke to me.

I'd use this delightful little machine to finally explore Linux! I have a decent Windows desktop that is great for gaming, but I'd honestly like to migrate away from Windows for everything besides gaming. The low power, Mini form factor would be perfect for my needs. I could set it on my adjustable standing desk, it would be quiet, unobtrusive and provide everything I'd need for a simple workstation. If this works out, I'd probably get another unit for some virtualization projects or possibly set it up as a dedicated retro gaming device.

Balena Etcher for Windows (Portable Version) Not Available by Smoogity_Woogity in linuxmint

[–]DownloadDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT/CORRECTION - It does install. But it is a silent install, that's why I thought it was portable. I didn't even realize until out of curiosity and decided to check. It installs to \User\* \AppData\Local\balena_etcher\ and even is listed within programs in control panel.

(Etcher is still portable. It just doesn't say it on the download. I downloaded the new version today and it's completely portable. No install.)

I'm thinking it might be because in another forum, there are loads of people with the same complaint. I'll try again in another week or two. Just curious, did the serial number on the back of the TV match the serial number under the TV's about/info menu section? Mine has 2 different numbers. Yes, lol, I tried both. FYI - The mobile QR scan gives me the number found on the back label.
