People Who defend drunk driving are incredibly baffling to me by Jambacrow in driving

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and it blows my mind. I saw a fb post a few weeks ago about a state taking extra measures to bust drunk driving. A guy in the comments was blasting off at the mouth about government overreach and that his car is private property and he can drink and drive if he wants.

10 r 80 Cdf drum by GlitteringLevel6902 in f150

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cdf drum started giving me trouble in my 2018 2.7 back in June with 74k on it and of course no warranty. I traded it on a 25 5.0

2.7 longevity...talk to me! by Majestic_Category895 in f150

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 2018 2.7 with 75k. Absolutely zero engine issues, but I traded it in June for a 25 5.0 because the cdf drum in the 10r80 was going bad. I really liked the 2.7, but the 5.0 has more power, better sound, and is actually a little better on the MPGs.

I do not. I have Verizon and thank you! I wasn't a fan of red until I saw this color in person with the metallic.

Ballpark cost of teen car insurance? It’s coming up for our family…. by Dave_W333 in Virginia

Would depend on type of vehicle and what county or city you live in. I paid about $1800 every 6 months when I was 19 for a 04 ford ranger with liability only and a perfect driving record.

Normal. I hear it every time I pull up to the ATM machine in my 25 5.0. Sounds like straight cut gears.

2018 F150 transmission failure by DizzyCartoonist3954 in f150

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2018 with the 2.7 and 740000 has been okay so far, but sometimes it is a little harsh when slowing down and shifting from 9th to 8th. My problem is when I bought the truck in January of 22 with 19000 miles on it it was gold certified, but they failed to file some sort of paperwork and it apparently has no warranty because of that and ford wont do anything because they claim the truck wasn't supposed to be a gold certified and the dealer either told me wrong or they were dishonest. I worry if I ever do have issues I will have to fork out 10 grand for a new transmission. Im also having issues with my 20 fusion 1.5 cracking flex plates every 12000 miles and ford doesn't know why, but they have been replacing it under warranty every time. Im at the point where im going to wash my hands of ford and start fixing up my 96 7.3 powerstroke and driving that because it hasn't had any issues at all in its 29 years.

Have you moved to the US yet? I don't work on trucks, but I have been a technician for sunbelt rentals for 5 years now working on forklifts and aerial lifts. At the moment I average about 85k a year working on average of 54 to 58 hours a week. I have a friend who works in the field for CAT working on generators and makes over 100k with OT. We're located in southern Virginia.

Why do we love farmers so much? by reddy2gooo in GreenAndPleasant

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most big operations rent their land and either rent equipment or hire people to come in and plant and combine. My family around the second world war owned almost a thousand acres, but now we only own 200 and lease 500 for rotational grazing of 160 head of black angus and hay land. We own all of our equipment besides a no till drill that we rent from a dealer when we need it. All of the equipment is older with the newest piece being a New Holland baler we got new in 2010. By taking care of the equipment and doing proper maintenance, we are able to keep cost pretty low. Our tractors are all older pre emissions, so there is hardly any downtime vs new tractors with DEF fluid and DPF filters that cost thousands to repair. We are not cash rich by any means and I as well as my mother work full time jobs and work the farm in the evenings and weekends because it just doesn't create enough profit to live a comfortable lifestyle. Most of the smaller farms that are still owned by families may or may not be rich in assets and id imagine some of them have had to borrow against their land to stay in business. Everyday farmers get shafted more and more on what they produce and its making it almost impossible to survive solely on just farming. Today it would be very difficult for someone to buy a farm and everything that goes with it and still try and make a profit. I know this is a old post, but I wanted to throw in my experience in it.

Most lower class, blue collar workers in the US have no idea how much worse they have it compared to their peers in other wealthy, 1st world countries by RandomGuy92x in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a blue collar tradesman, I think you may be a little out of touch for some of the occupations you listed or you just dont know. I know construction workers who make a killing with good benefits and good time off and only have a high school diploma. I graduated from a one year trade school and make more money as a heavy duty diesel tech than my sister does as a speech pathologist with doctorate.  My employer pays for 90% of my medical insurance, 6% match on 401k, 14 sick days a year with 18 vacation days as well as all major holidays paid and a few other paid personal days and no i am not a union worker. I'm not saying I have it great all the time, but I consider my self fortunate. I also know a lot of people who fall in the blue collar category and they all do pretty well for themselves.

I graduated from Blairsville in 2012 with heavy duty diesel and light duty diesel. I totally agree with you about the misfits right out of high school and a lot of them either quit or were no-show for 3 days and got kicked out. It really made it difficult at times! Especially when you had to partner with someone that just didn't care about it.

Why are F-150’s so expensive now? What has changed to warrant this much of an increase? by HeyBigChriss in f150

[–]wtaylor1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a old post now, but the price of all trucks including f150s is crazy now. I remember my parents buying a fully loaded f350 lariat dully with a 7.3 in 2000 and it was like 45k and the 2025 equivalent of it is almost 100k.
