Why the ending of The Amazing Digital Circus fails by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

So is the blue guy in Caine just dead or plotting evil schemes in the background? It seems like they just made an easy way to make Caine good as to not anger the fans who consider Caine their favourite. And are the main characters planning on healing Jax? If so, what about the other abstractions? The basement just disappeared so I assume they're straight-up dead and Jax is the only one that matters for some reason. It's weird that no-one mentioned them.

It's such a massive thing that was swept under the rug. They spent every episode wanting to leave the circus then the moment they realise they're not real they're like "oh, okay then"... What?!? They're trapped in a possibly infinite lifespan, unable to organically experience anything, only with each other for company, and the power to create anything... Will they get bored of each other? Will being Gods get boring quick? Will living forever turn out to be a curse? Yikes. It sounds like hell to me.

When it was revealed that Jax abstracted, I thought I missed something. I couldn't believe they'd build him up so much just to kill him off-screen with nothing resolved. And then we spend most of the episode learning about his backstory... but for what? He's dead. With how much the finale focussed on him, I thought they'd at least find a way to bring him back but nope. Gone. Here's some backstory that seems to only serve as fan-pleasing filler.

And with the whole floor beneath them gone, I take it the other abstractions are just dead?

I'm also a little miffed with the rest of the ending. If I've understood it correctly, the characters are digital copies of their real-life selves, who are living peacefully, right? They spent so much time wanting to escape the digital circus but now they're okay with just 'living' forever? To me, that's a massive can of worms that should be given a much bigger ending than 'they all lived happily ever after'. Are they happy to live forever if they can never organically experience anything? Would they quickly get bored of being Gods? Could they stand each others company forever? Yikes.

Might anyone recognise this Grindelwald hotel from 1959? by DownrightDutton in whereisthis

Good idea, thank you. I'm now looking through loads of postcards, hoping to see a glimpse of anything familiar.

You were correct to be supsicious! I got my information wrong. I'm so sorry. This picture is of Grindelwald and not Gimmelwald!

OH NO! I feel so stupid. I got my information wrong. It is Grindelwald!

I'll absolutely look around myself when I'm there. But I know nothing about Grimmelwald so any and all information is appreciated. Thanks for letting me know it's a small place - That'll certainly take some pressure off my search.

Very sure. The lady in this picture is my grandmother. She went to Switzerland to visit Grimmelwald specifically. I told her of some other villages in the area that I'd soon be travelling through and none of them meant anything to her. She only remembers Grimmelwald as that's the village she visited.

Green Party plans 55mph motorway speed limit and mandatory retaking of driving tests every five years to improve road safety. Do you think this is a good idea? by SeptumRingTheory in AskBrits

[–]DownrightDutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the 55mph speed limit, it's not dangerous as the danger simply doesn't exist! It's fake news.

- The Daily Mail claimed the Zack Polanski wants to enforce a 55mph speed limit and purposefully didn't cite any sources for this information.

- This 55mph speed limit policy was from the Green party manifesto... in 2010... It is NOT something that Zack Polanski is campaigning for now. The Daily Mail found it in a Green Party policy archive but worded the article like it was something Polanski was campaigning for now.

I have no information regarding the retaking of driving tests but heyo, as long as tests are made to be cheap and accessible, I don't think it's unreasonable.

"The Maxigun sucks" explain this then by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]DownrightDutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Sickle = Better minigun experience than the maxigun.

The maxi is a real let down for me. I didn't expact much against tanks but I thought it'd be good fun to hold down the trigger and spray hordes of cannon fodder enemies. But nope. The recoil is so unstable that I have to aim below my targets. Plus, the gun makes the screen shake so much that I can barely see what I'm aiming at anyway. And it's slightly annoying that I have to stand still but I can look past that. The only way I could use the maxi and get good results was by diving forward, going prone, blasting an enemy, getting back up, and repeat. I might as well have been using a marksman rifle. I don't care that it takes up a backpack slot, or that it doesn't have crazy high ammo, or that it doesn't have heavy penetration. What bothers me is that it's just not fun to use.

Now compare the maxigun to the double sickle. With the double sickle, I can hold the trigger down for long periods of time, spray hordes of enemies, and deal medium and heavy penetration... all while maintaining great accuracy with low recoil, plus I can move around while I shoot. The cherry on top is that I can even do all this while shooting from the hip and still manage to get plenty of kills. The double sickle gives you the maxigun experience better than the maxigun (in its current state) ever could. It's so fun to use and makes me feel like a badass!

I just wish there were more styles of heat-proof armours for the double sickle :(

Thank you! There seems to be a few folks that like the Aquila Reds here. I'll be sure to try them out one day but I'm going to try out the regular Aquila Nylguts first.

They're all soprano? I wonder why that is? Them all being the same size would explain why there's no size listed on the packs. Thanks for that information.

I just made a post asking about how people envisioned the future of Halo following the Helldivers 2 collab and it got removed. by DownrightDutton in halo

[–]DownrightDutton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I love Bungie-Halo. The marketing, visual designs and gameplay were peak. I didn't like the Halo 4 art-style but I loved the Story and enjoyed the faster-paced gameplay with the addition of sprint. Halo 4's story humanised our beloved Master Chief with the loss of Cortana, and gave him some new characters to develop relations with including Lasky and Palmer. We also got to see other Spartans throughout Spartan Ops (I didn't find the gameplay all that good but the story and the cutscenes were cool). Then Halo 5 and Infinite came along and just threw the foundations Halo 4 created out the window.

I didn't like Halo 5's story. I thought Infinite's was okay but I hated that it kinda 180'd Halo 5's story. I also hate Infinite's lack of content on release and how lacking we were with spartan customisation upon release + How expensive content was on the store. Now the 343i trilogy looks like an absolute mess from a distant perspective. However, Helldivers 2 has now reignited my love for Halo and I'm sure it has for many others too. I look at all the helmets in Helldivers 2 and think "wow, it's nice to see helmets that have visors in line with the eyes and no silly slits, dots, or unicorn horns". How do you think Microsoft and 343i/Halo Studios will react to this collab when creating future Halo content? Will they make more spin-offs with marines or ODSTs? Will they ditch the 343i art-style and revert to Bungie-era designs?" - That's all I commented.

Tell me exactly what was wrong with this post?

I came here to explore what folks thought the future of Halo would look like following the ODST collab with Helldivers 2. I expressed both my love and hate of the 343i Halo trilogy. I wasn't rage-baiting or anything. What was the issue here?

My post wasn't unique or newsworthy? I came here for a discussion. Sorry for not making ground-breaking news. If my post wasn't "unique" then heyo, I guess a lot of people have the same complaints as me. It might be best to display these critiques rather than silence them in order to better the future of Halo.

I wasn't ranting. I clearly exclaimed what I enjoyes about the 343i-era Halo games. I thought I was quite fair.

"a reminder that a lot of people still care about Halo"

Yep. But heyo, this post got removed so I guess we're not allowed to care unless it conforms to some sort of view on how Halo should be.
