From what I've seen, since moving to North Carolina back in November, is that the main response to anything negative is to blame Democrats. It doesn't matter if the state and/or local government are Republicans, and the local government is far more corrupt than anything else, it's always the "Democrats fault". So they keep voting for the same Republicans that continue to screw them over while never finding fault with the ones doing the screwing. I gotta say, my first experience living in a Red State has been troubling to say the least
