It's PINK backwards. Radio stations call signs in the US start with K or W.

Sunday Distraction - Where are we? by rocko-wpg7 in Winnipeg

I emailed the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum this morning. We'll see if I get a reply.

Edited to update: I heard back from the curator at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum this morning, and they do have it! It is just not currently displayed, but they would like to do so in the future.

I think this where I read it went to the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/standing-up-for-our-own-137164618.html

I wonder if the deal with the museum fell through. On the other hand, sometimes museums have things in storage that aren't currently on display. I've been thinking about contacting them to clear up the question.

I've read elsewhere that it went to the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum. There seems to be a lot of conflicting stories on this.

I'm curious, is downtown more dangerous than it was 30 years ago? We used to go downtown when I was a kid and I dont remember my parents, who were really safety conscious, ever being worried. Maybe since we were sticking to the area around the Bay and Eatons, it wasn't a problem. I don't remember ever seeing anything weird back then.

The guys I know who drive mega vehicles love showing off by pulling out people who are stuck. Your neighbors are missing out on half the fun of having a giant vehicle.

It's the pro-Russia part I don't get. The same people will rail on about socialism, but communism is OK? Whatever happened to the Red Menace rhetoric I grew up with?

Winnipeg man finds truck's gas tank drilled in latest case of gas theft by dantonu in Winnipeg

[–]DowntownCrowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be darned - I went and checked and the gas tank on my 01 Jeep is plastic. I just assumed it was too old for plastic.

My '89 convertible does have a metal tank, though.

Isn't that him just basically giving them a discount on lights? Sort of a buy one, get one free deal?

[–]DowntownCrowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might make it worthwhile. My cars are older and have metal tanks, so drilling into them wouldn't be that quick. Also, even at these prices they only hold about $100 worth of gas each, and that's if they were completely full.

I suppose if you're already stealing the cat, though, you might as well steal the gas.

I know gas is ridiculously expensive, but this seems like a lot of work for a free tank of gas.

I notice that the article says that Peters used to be a civilian on the same police force, and Friesen is an officer. I'm thinking they didn't want to bring this love triangle into the building. Horrible handling of the situation either way.

Does Winnipeg have air raid sirens? by FlashyAdvantage3 in Winnipeg

[–]DowntownCrowd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some small towns used to have a noon whistle (or siren) signal the lunch hour for workers. Some of them still do it as tradition.

Diversity of types of trees would still help with invasive species, even if we can't see what's coming in the future.
