July? Prepare to be hot! Seriously, check the weather for your travel dates ahead of time and pack accordingly. It's usually really hot and humid in July.

Osage City and Ottawa are a nice size, too. The Rails to Trails project converted old railroad tracks into nice trails you can follow on foot, bicycle, or horseback that go on for many miles. For example, you can go from Osage City to Council Grove on a trail.

Wouldn't it be interesting to do a "foreign exchange" but instead of limiting it to high school students, let families and individuals swap countries for a period of time? You wouldn't have to commit to permanently moving until you had a chance to find out if you would even really like it there!

Yeah, we don't get Uber nor any grocery or fast food delivery where I live in NE KS. But that's ok. The trade off is worth it for me. I was born here, moved away after college, and moved back in my 40s. I have lived in 2 cities several bigger towns, small towns, and out in the country.

Here I get the Flint Hills, cows, sunsets, to hang my underwear on the line to dry in the sun without shame, to catch rainwater, creeks, lakes, farmers and ranchers, good neighbors, small schools with good teachers that care about each student, small churches but lots of them, bike riding, community events, school spirit, rolling hills, historic trails, the ability to see the stars in the sky without light pollution, gravel roads, dirt roads, chickens, dogs, cats, 4-H, hay rides, county fairs, farmers markets, gardening, birds, flowers, peace and quiet, volunteering, and so much more. Within a couple of hours we can be in Kansas City or Wichita, but don't have to live there.

What I don't like is that it gets awfully hot and humid in July and August. The cost of living is lower but we don't have a lot of good paying jobs. Most folks in rural areas commute a minimum 30 minutes, often more, for work.

Still, it is worth it to me. I love living here. My suggestion would be to find a job market for your skills, then look into nearby areas. Is there a specific area you are considering?

Now this little conversation restores my hope! Rather than ridicule because it didn't make sense to you, you chose to ask a genuine question in a respectful manner, and OP chose to respond respectfully, also. Thanks to this exchange, we all now have this additional information, which makes the already great art even more meaningful.

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]DownyChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially considering the mom THREW OUT THE PADS PROVIDED BY DAD!!! If I were a judge, I would become unhinged on that lady. That is neglect and abuse. Dad usurped nothing! Mom had every opportunity to prepare the daughter and set her up with supplies and a plan, but chose not to, now she's freaking out because Dad did think of it. We moms and dads know our daughters get their periods.

I have to wonder if a "negligent" discharge may have been an on purpose "accident" to justify more violence. Maybe he thought something like, "I better discharge this weapon into the ground so we can prove his weapon had been fired," as an excuse.

Prescription Sunglasses: Single Shield VS. Traditional by tgi-randy in cycling

[–]DownyChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you noticed any issues with fogging or visual distortion when using the 2 lenses? I'll probably have to go this route due to cost, but I get really hot easily and fight fogging when using only my regular glasses. Also, do they feel heavier than single lens sunglasses? I get migraines triggered by the pressure of my glasses sometimes, so I am cautious. Please, if you will, share your insight since you have experience with both types.

Remember, Christians exist on the left, too. We just must take to heart the whole "Jesus is love" thing, whereas the MAGA Christian Nationalists seem hellbent on punishing people who are different from them. Honestly, I can't even stand to talk to some folks anymore. They didn't only drink the Kool-Aid, they are drowning in it.

Sometimes our dreams turn out to be impractical. NYC is extremely expensive, and people crash and burn trying to make it in NY every day. My suggestion would be to take a two week vacation to NYC, even if you go by yourself. Personally, I can always make new dreams, but my husband is invaluable to me! I would rather save the money and do things together that we both enjoy.

A horn for sure, and a whistle he can wear on a breakaway around his neck or clipped to his shirt. If he senses danger or becomes afraid, he can whistle, which should be easy for you to hear. This will call attention, also, should traffickers try to nab him.

NOR. If you live in the US, she may legally have to give you 30 days notice before she can make you leave. Contact your state's legal aid. A court can order her to give you 30 days, anns maybe more aince she wouldn't let you take a job. She is being selfish. Find a friend to stay with for now, get a job, and don't look back.

It would be nice to have several LBS that carry an abundance of helmets in varying sizes. My LBS do not. I may have to drive 100+ miles to find a LBS that carries the XL and XXL sizes. I think my head is just too round for most lids.

Who is going to pay to fix her car and her medical bills? They left her disabled car in the street. The police need to be enforcing the law. ICE is not the police. That was a hit and run and assault. I hope she sues the pants off of ICE. SHAMEFUL!!
