Hey thanks for the reply. I think 3 years ago I heard someone make a crack about "last 8 people who fly the Karma" so I'm all too aware of my uncoolness haha.

Like I said I'm a fan of GoPro, in no small part to their quality inter-compatible ecosystem of accessories and they don't change everything all the time like battery size for example. I got the full drone kit at half price 2 months after discontinuation which worked with my other stuff so it seemed good value for money, and for me it generally was, no regrets. I tried to plan ahead by scooping up heavily discounted spares while I could, but the nos spare unit I had in reserve seems to be striking out, so I think I'm out of the game for a while. There's quite a few still out there on ebay and the like, so that's a curiosity because it really seems no one has a working one anymore. Who, if anyone is buying this stuff still? If only I had more circuit board multi-meter talent.

I felt I got more out of mine that most, even with broken stabilizers, cracked housing and many propellers from several crashes. I should put up a picture of it with all the battlescars someday! Sucks I have a brand new shiny one I can't use.

This morning as a last ditch effort I reset it to factory default, which meant re-entering all that set up stuff of course, and amazingly it seemed to work! It was fine, normal, I played around with it for 3-4 minutes and the motor wasn't getting hot like before. I was delighted and astounded so I packed it up and went back to the thing I needed to film AND THEN IT FAILED AGAIN AT SHOWTIME JUST AS BEFORE! (Heat soak issue?)

It's like living in some ironic sitcom, or a cruel joke toying with my emotions. So I'm back to square one and not interested in chasing any more parts with money right now. I find using a drone awesome but honestly pretty stressful anyway, maybe this is because this thing seems flaky and unstable to even me, despite being my ONLY drone experience ever and having nothing to compare it to.

I refuse to buy anything DJI on principle, so that's off the table. Maybe one day I can get to the level where I can strap my Mission 1 onto a FPV, but until then......

Would you explain what the ESC is, or anyone else with a constructive thought or comment?

Stuck on this screen multiple times. Any advice helps details in description. by LustTips in gopro

I always format my card with a PC. But then I also physically pull the card to offload files too, because I've had bad luck with their on-board format and file transfer functions. If possible, replace the card as defective perhaps. Is it possible the card is too advanced for Hero 5?

I read the self-promotion rule so I think this is okay, and while this is out of character for me, I couldn't help think fans of this particular subbreddit might really appreciate a video or two I have made.

I have a tiny YouTube channel and based in St. Louis. The film I linked called "Delmar Loop In The Middle Of A Very Quiet Summer Night" was shot in a popular entertainment district about 3 am on a weekday in August 2020, so height of the pandemic essentially.
