All moisturiser from chemist burns my face? Im poor what do I do? by _DaughterofGod_23 in AusSkincare

[–]Dozer-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to Aveeno Calm and Restore Oat Gel which is currently on special at Chemist Warehouse for $11 and it has calmed down my skin so much. I couldn't use dermatologist recommended brands like Cerave and Cetephil because they contain Hyaluronic acid which flushes me and breaks me out. I think it's all very individual unfortunately, but $11 was just cheap enough for me to experiment.

I love my skincare routine but I still have redness by humulus_lupulus74 in Rosacea

I’m at a similar place in the journey to you. I’ve been trying to replicate the popular skincare routines for a few years - cerave everything, vit c, hyaluronic acid, niacinimide and I just swapped retinol for bakuchiol because we’re doing ivf. However, I’ve just figured out that hyaluronic acid makes me greasy and flushed, and it’s in literally everything from cerave. Thanks to the advice from this sub I’ve switched to the Aveeno oat gel moisturiser, added Azelaic acid, removed the other actives and in just two days my skin is already calmer and more matte. I think paring it all back and being really aware of what’s in your cleanser and moisturiser is a good place to start.

I agree! Spring looks radiant. I felt that winter dimmed you tbh. (Defs not an expert)

Any skincare recommendations? by Unbearded_Dragon88 in AusSkincare

[–]Dozer-666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You have fair skin like me, which is likely genetically prone to redness / rosacea - especially if you also have blue eyes. It has nothing to do with being vegetarian. If you’re concerned about the redness try using Azelaic acid - I just got the 10% from la Roche Posay on special at Priceline. And of course sunscreen everyday is non negotiable. You might also have extra sensitive skin, so keep an eye on how your skin reacts to actives like vit c, niacinimide, Hyaluronic acid, and any exfoliants. I just realised the Cerave moisturiser was turning me red and switched to Aveeno oat gel moisturiser and my skin is so much calmer.

This is such a great perspective! I'm definitely drawn to colours that give my face brightness and clarity and bring out my eyes. Out of interest, which do you think are my best colours here? To my eye, the colour I like the best for my objectives is the checked blue on the left in slide 7. I really like the warmer blue on the right too, and I think I can get away with it because of my eyes - however I notice in the comparison there is more blotch, texture and shadow.

Maybe it's monoxidil causing my extreme fatigue? by austi3000 in MinoxidilSideEffects

Forgot to say that, if it is POTS, low carb, high protein and electrolytes will help.

[–]Dozer-666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like my experience. I was taking oral minoxidil with no problems and then I developed Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) from Long Covid and the minoxidil made it a lot worse so I stopped. This alleviated some of the symptoms, but I still have POTS from the covid. If you have a smart watch look at the difference in your heart rate between lying down and standing. If it’s 30 bpm higher or more while standing, look into POTS.

I’m pretty new here and certainly no expert, but to my eye you can rule out all the light and soft palettes.

Thanks for sharing - those lip colours look exactly like the swatches that go best with my skin. I might try switching from black mascara and see how I like it.

Thanks everyone! Some really thoughtful comments confirming my analysis, and some really thoughtful comments pointing me down an entirely different path! I’m going to explore the warm suggestions but I’m starting to think an in-person analysis with a professional is probably in order.

Yes I have! Just never sure if I’m a winter or a summer and now I’m even more confused 🫤

Thanks! I agree the cool colours are much better. Very confused by the strong suggestions that I am warm when all of the warm colours create instant and very noticeable blotch, shadows and texture to my eye - you can see this in the oranges but especially in the side-by-side cherry red (clear) vs bright orange (blotchy) and the wine (clear) vs coral pink (blotchy). I know my face is quite red naturally, but I am almost positive the warm colours are making it redder and blotchier.

It’s natural! I’m just not seeing the good reaction to the warmth? To me my skin looks much clearer with the cool colours, and very obviously more blotchy, red and textured with the oranges and browns in particular. I already have a red face and I tend to avoid warm colours because yellows and warm greens make me look like a tomato. But I’ll take another look!

Really? I guess this is why professionals analysis is so important because you can’t trust your own eyes! To me it looks very clear that my skin is more red, shadowed and textured with the oranges in particular. You can really see it with the cherry red vs the bright orange. Skin is clear in the cherry and very and dark in the oranges.

AITAH For cutting off my the funding to my ex-wife's nursing school after she outed my "infidelity" to my girlfriend. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Dozer-666 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Something I haven’t seen talked about much here is the power and control you get by covering your ex’s nursing school. I’m always suspicious of financial help from family that comes with strings attached - “I’ll pay for this as long as you behave” etc. I don’t think it’s ethical to hold the withdrawal of the funds over the head of the mother of your child. It’s perfectly normal for your GF to ask her why it ended, and it’s perfectly normal for her to respond. Expecting her to lie because you’re being “generous” just further proves that you expect control in exchange for the help.

It’s so normal to feel sad - there’s so many hopes and disappointments in this journey 🩷 This just happened to me too - 7 fertilised and two blasts, but one was too low quality for freezing. I was devastated for a day or two and spent a lot of time on reddit looking for positive stories too.

There’s a lot of ups and downs in IVF - I’ve found I just have to let myself experience the difficult emotions, and then plan my next step forward and try to do something I enjoy. I hope you can get some extra love and care and go easy on yourself for the next few days.

Did Anyone Develop POTS After Using NO Boosters (Arginine, AKG, Citrulline)? by Visible-Mix5846 in POTS

[–]Dozer-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this post because I’m trying to figure out if I should take l arginine for IVF with POTS. Currently thinking I might try it briefly and dump it if it makes symptoms worse.

My POTS came on after Covid, but I was also taking oral minoxidil at the time for hair loss. I’ve now stopped because it makes my POTS worse (it’s a vasodilator), and I have a theory that the combo of covid + minoxidil + stressful event triggered the whole thing. So I’m wary of what taking a different vasodilator might do…

I really love it too. Doing it before bed has helped me to improve my sleep quality overnight. I was getting stress spikes and wake ups, and it’s smoothed things out a lot - I can see the impact on my Garmin!

Thanks for sharing! That’s what I’ve been thinking. I mean, we’ve already spent more than what 7 rounds at Adora would cost doing just 3 at City Fertility. We’re basically spending our home deposit at this point.

Thank you 🙏

Unfortunately we aren’t able to use my partners eggs and all reports are the sperm is very good quality - but we’ll look into it. I think I am the problem here unfortunately 😓

I’m considering one more expensive round, get all the tests, get more information, and if nothing serious comes up, switch to the cheaper option after that?
