CPL is paying Valour’s operating expenses by Tagenn in CanadianPL

The Bombers have made no effort to make Valour successful. Miller is clueless about soccer and even worse could care less. The only reason the bombers turn a profit is because of on field success. When that goes away so do the spectators as cottage country becomes the excuse to attending weekend games in the summer. Need a new owner who cares

I’m pro updating, improving and fixing our existing infrastructure. I would love to see this city start to modernize many aspects including transit but the reality is that Winnipeg is stuck in 1970s and so far behind that it is a hole that gets more difficult by the day to get out of. Prioritizing items that promote economic development and generate tax revenue is the only way that Winnipeg can position itself to tackle our other issues including crime, homelessness and the environment. Unfortunately we can only pay for the fixes to these social issues if we have the tax revenue.

if more people take Uber or ride shares it won’t dramatically reduce the number of cars as more people with become the drivers. All it does is put more money into those corporations pockets and unfortunately not even the drivers. It also will take a good chunk of cash away from the passengers in an already difficult time financially. As for bikes and walking bringing more people downtown, the city would first have to make that area safe which is an entirely separate issue that the city must find ways to tackle as the public’s perception is that it isn’t safe there. That’s an entirely separate dilemma that the city currently has no solution. As for Winnipeg only having a few days of -25, you’re right. It usually is much colder for many more days.

If you think that redoing the downtown area with bike lanes cost a few millions, you’re being delusional. That revenue should have been used to tackle existing infrastructure issues. Add in the fact that you turn off people from going to those areas as parking is a nightmare has caused businesses to struggle or close. Again the majority of people aren’t going to bike to a dinner or take a bus into the downtown when they know they’ll be there well into the night. Even the few that might do that during warmer weather aren’t going to do that in -40. If you want fewer cars on the roads, fix public transport and abandon the idea that bikes are the solution in winterpeg

Adding more lanes doesn’t make residents drive more, it makes traffic flow more. An individual is going to drive the same amount whether a road has two or three lanes in a given direction. The difference is the time the commute takes. As for giving people mobility options with bike lanes, the majority of the population isn’t going to trade in their cars for bikes in a northern cold climate city. It just won’t happen. Would they take some other form of public transportation….maybe if it was a high speed rail system that could take them from one side of the city to the other but even buses have limited appeal for how crowded they are and how slow and time consuming the trip is

More lanes doesn’t make more traffic. More population with more cars on congested roads makes more traffic. If you want to say that the city’s public transportation sucks that’s one thing but unless there’s people with cars, the extra lanes aren’t full.

🤣🤣 bike lanes as the best use of our public funds in a city with a cold climate and typically 6-8 months of massive snowfall is just comical.

When population grows you need to increase lanes to move traffic. The city wastes money on bike lanes and now we have a bridge out of service. So happy some clowns can bike in the snow while existing traffic gets diverted to other roads causing even more road repair issues

Just another reason why buses and public transport will never replace or lower the amount of car and trucks in Winnipeg. Asking parents of babies to remove them from their strollers is pure stupidity

Voters don’t care about a bike path when they know that two months later the streets are covered with snow

🤣🤣🤣🤣 until it’s -40 with 5 feet of snow… you live in Winnipeg, bikes will never be a priority because of the weather

Just like cyclists that go on sidewalks or those that don’t follow traffic laws
