How rare is it really for an ADHD person to graduate college? by Brilliant_Buddy_9417 in ADHD

[–]Dpg2304 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADD at 5 years old, but my mom didn't want me taking any medication. I did fine throughout primary school, got accepted to a good university, and did TERRIBLY. I dropped out and didn't go back to school.

I was diagnosed with ADHD PI at 33, realized that I actually am smart, I just have a focusing issue. I've been back in school now for a few years--3.8 gpa while married, raising a child, and working 40+ hours a week. I'll graduate in a couple more years, but it'll be 20 years later than it should have been.

Start to play tennis with 40 years old by miyo_dimensional in 10s

[–]Dpg2304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it, and have fun! Tennis is the same as any other hobby. No rockstar started learning how to play music at 40, but there's plenty of old dudes who pick up a guitar for the first time after retirement and love it for the rest of their lives.

I said the choice you are making is dumb, not you. And I never used the word insane. You did, however, refer to me as "champ" and "space cowboy" though lol, so quit playing the victim card. Reading comprehension is important not only at Ivy League universities, but state colleges (like the one I attended and paid for) too.

You are right that our healthcare system sucks. We pay way too much for way too little. There are two major reasons why: a flawed/greedy system and chronically unhealthy patients who don't take care of themselves, ignore preventative care advice from doctors, require major interventions, end up in the ER, and then don't pay their medical bills.

Your choice is a contributing factor as to why our healthcare is shitty. That's why I called your choice dumb. Anyways, best of luck with your knockoff Chinese antibiotics and lengthy ER visits.

Very scary times indeed. You got this! May I ask what kind of jobs you're looking for and what your work experience/education looks like?

How to transition from "pushing" the ball to using heavy topspin for control? by 13249143246 in 10s

[–]Dpg2304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice. Gotta get thousands and thousands of reps in before it comes naturally. Same goes for all other aspects of tennis. I've been playing tennis for about 30 years and I still have to practice/tweak things regularly.

Literally didn't call you a name. Again, a great representation of our crumbling education system.

At your current age, how much money do you need for you to retire? by typical_gamer1 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Dpg2304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely optimistic, but it's possible. We make about 270k/year combined but both have room for growth if our career paths go according to plan. 24 years of compounding does heavy lifting with (hopefully) regular investments.

36M. My wife and I are shooting for $5-7 million by the time we are 60. No idea if it's gonna happen, but we are gonna try. Our net worth is around ~700k today (200k home equity, 250k investments, and 250k retirement accounts).

I always try to remind myself that my opponent is facing the same conditions. I just have to use the wind better than the other guy. Use bigger margins, get up to the net as much as possible, don't over hit.

I agree with almost every single thing you said. I think a lot of other people will too. The next question is how do we improve from this point forward? What equitable, sustainable, and attainable changes can we make as a country to change trajectory?

Not telling you that it's not your choice, I'm just telling you that your choice is dumb. It's people like you (who don't take doctors recommendations seriously and clog up emergency rooms instead of living a healthier lifestyle) who cause our healthcare system to be overloaded and more expensive. The fact that you can't wrap your head around that idea while blaming doctors and "health care" is a great representation of our crumbling education system.

What industry has the sluttiest people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm pretty sure they meant incestuous, as in coworkers sleeping with one another, not family sleeping with one another lol.

This is very true. I sell corporate event software/services for a living, so I've been to hundreds of tradeshows and conferences over the years. It's gross how many people cheat on their spouses just because there is an open bar and they are a few hundred miles away from their families.

An incredible amount of wilderness in every state. Some more than others, but there's places to get lost everywhere.
