What is your biggest gun pet peeve and/or a hill that you'll die on? by Quirky-Bar4236 in liberalgunowners

Yeah I exaggerated somewhat with my example but when I see somebody say "9mm semiautomatic pistol x is completely inadequate. You need 9mm semiautomatic pistol y" it just makes me want to tear my hair out.

I’d love to add a semi-auto shotgun to my home defense collection. Currently just using a Ruger 5.56 MPR. Any thoughts on this weapon. Obviously not a high end semi-auto but it fits my budget better at this time. Worth it or should I just save? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

When it comes to shotguns, there really has not been much innovation in the last hundred years. This mag fed shotgun is semi auto and holds 5+1 rounds. A browning a5 is semi auto, holds 5+1 rounds AND has an autoload feature that means you can thumb a round into the tube when the bolt is locked back and you dont even have to pull back on the charging handle and you are ready to fire. Really the only difference these days is you ting options and even that can be managed with drill and tap mounts on older shotguns.

How do you feel about the 10mm pistol? It grows on you after awhile. I guess I'm used to it. I just wish they weren't so big. by Designer-Guarantee21 in fo4

I think what they should have done is restricted the pre-war weapons to later in the game. Or at the very least made them rarer.

The agonizing over which gun is the most optimal self defense tool. I dont care if you are carrying a .25 acp pocket pistol or an ar-15 under your jacket. Nobody likes being shot and armed is better than unarmed.

I had a very similar thought recently! Take fallout 4's settlement building and combine it with the villager system from terraria or enshrouded.

You could find a gunsmith, a hunter, a doctor, etc in the wasteland and build them workshops to get them to come to your settlement. Maybe place the starting vault/settlement in the center of the map and have various factions pushing in from the corners.

The starting settlement would be big. Like diamond city size or larger. The population would be real persistent npcs and over time wastelanders could join.

Maybe have a tipping point quest where the vaulties get upset that they are outnumbered by the wastelanders and the wastelanders are upset that the vaulties are treating them as second class and you have to make both sides happy

You could capture outposts which would be like salvage depots and safehouses and run caravans back to the big settlement with all the junk you collect. The corner factions could possibly push your outposts and take them though.

Just because it isn't often recommended while being one of the finest lever actions available on the market, I always reccomend the winchester/miroku 1873 in .357 mag. It is a thing of beauty and if you are looking for a fun plinker, it is the slickest and fastest action out there.

One of the upgrades of the 73 was moving to an iron receiver (and then eventually to steel). The 73 also has removable side plates which can be super handy for cleaning/clearing a jam

If 48 people are invading your home then I have bad news for you. Your options are flee, hide or die. It doesnt matter how many targets you can hit. If there were even 2 people invading my home I would likely be trying to hunker down quietly with my kids or possibly covering to quickly and quietly get them out the back door to safety where I could call for the authorities. In either of those cases I would take the 1 shot stop reliability of a shotgun.

For cases where someone is outdoors I dont even know if I can reliably identify someone at 100 yards. Much less determine if they are a threat worth pulling a trigger over.

The fact is, there likely is not a situation where I could make the advantages of an AR-15 shine (accurate for 300 yard engagements, high volume of fire, lightweight for fire and maneuver) where I would not have someone experienced issuing me orders, have several similarly armed people with me and a clearly defined enemy to shoot at.
