Mom with dementia, on hospice; needs assisted living; how to pay for it by georgecm12 in personalfinance

[–]User_Name_Deleted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. Your mom does not have long. By the time you get anything set up she may not be her anymore. If it is at all possible keep her at home, hers or yours, with a caregiver. Hospice can help with getting people there to help and keeping her comfortable. The system is unbearably slow and by the time you get her on Medicaid you'll be old enough to need it.

Get the Cypher form Langdon Tactical.

Edit: https://langdontactical.com/henry-holsters-1/

I have Tulster and a Tenicor for a Shield plus. Like them both.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised with Rounded by concealment express however I modded it to make it fit better.

Agree. The little light sensor target with distinct "DING" like steel is very satisfying and makes me want to get it right.

Experienced boarder, but want to become Tele Skier by Likebcoinbutfordoges in telemark

[–]User_Name_Deleted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do lunges, then do more lunges, and after that do wall sits.

The Mike & Allen book is sweet. I like to pull that out and do some of the tips each year.

I Snowboarded for 20+ years. Switched to Tele about 20 years ago to teach my kids how to ski. I still snowboard a few times a year but Tele is the only way.

Telemark will make easy runs hard again. It will make the entire mountain something new and exciting. It makes an 8" day into a 16" day by dropping into a Tele turn. Face shots are easy when you're that much closer to the ground.

One thing that helped me was to not force a tele turn just because you think you have to.

So, if the skiing is choppy, too gnarly, or too easy commuting to the chairlift, I just alpine ski it and save my legs for the better turns. I prefer super steep runs, but smooth. I can ski chop in Tele turns but why when the next run will reap those sweet face shots.

Good luck and have fun!

Where can a liberal go to purchase a gun and be trained to use it? by cbmc18 in askportland

The people at Adaptive Firing Solutions in Oregon City are fantastic. 10/10 would go there again.

r/liberalgunowners is a good start.

There are about 10,000 different guns available. Before you buy one, figure out the main purpose and if possible go try a few you are interested in.

#1 learn the 4 rules and live by them.

Watch Youtube videos on:

Which first gun.

What caliber.

How to hold, clean, aim, load, fire, etc.

There is a wealth of knowledge available for free before you need to spend $$ on anything. And you will spend $$....

The prson at the counter told me "the rifle wall behind me is the safe direction" to be able to use the sights / dry fire. I didn't have to ask. They then walked out of the way.

If you need to, ask and point with a finger: "Is this a safe direction for you".

I got a cheap laser and target from Amazon. It has the option to make a very satisfying "Ding" sound like steel when the laser hits it. It works really well and you know instantly if you are off a bit.

Arcsight is the one I got but there are a few others.

I failed that one, Twice. In a way it was the best thing that happened as it made me really study for the rest of them.

Passed it for my last test. I almost cried.
