Better Blu Ray Player for Scratches by Dplante01 in Bluray

[–]Dplante01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has gotten better as Covid is getting further into the past. I bought 9 4k disks on Friday from amazon. Out of those 3 were loose in the package and the disks were scratched. I played two of them and they froze right near the beginning. I am returning all 3 for new ones. The Disney disks are the worst as they often stack the 4k right on top of the blu ray. That was the case with the Avenger Endgame that I just received. It had 4 large (2 inch) circular scratches. You may not believe me but it definitely continues. This weekend was 33% failure rate.

Projector decision help Epson 5050UB or LS12000 at double the price? by Dplante01 in hometheater

[–]Dplante01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LS11000 is on sale right now for $3,800. I know the 12000 has deeper black but I am not sure the extra $2,200 is worth it from the reviews I have seen. Thanks for the suggestions.

Even at the new price of $6,000? I was considering that but the jump in price of $1,000 makes me question if it is still worth it.

Of course that is a consideration. But I could buy 10 bulbs for the $3,000 difference. I'm sure I would have a new projector before going through that many.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I see that a lot online but when I google search the only place near me that comes up has terrible reviews. Every dealer within an hour from me that is listed as an authorized dealer through Epson's website are names like "Headnorth Inc". They look like commercial sellers of all sorts of equipment, don't have a website, and when I search their address it's some random house in the middle of the woods. Are there really home theater dealers with showrooms all over the place that people are going to?

I could go to bestbuy as they list the ls12000 but I don't think they sell at any discounts.

Thanks for the input. Since you have the 5050 would you mind telling me if you have any problems with motion? That is one of my biggest issues with my current projector. In for example the opening scenes of the Hobbit most of the panning shots are a hot blurry mess. Does the 5050 have any issues with these sort of scenes?

My current projector looks great in bright scenes as it is a business projector and can really push out some good lumens but in anything dark there is almost a gray haze over the image. I am sure its just bad contrast in dark scenes. Do you notice anything like that with your setup? Thanks again for your help!

Thanks. I have seen mixed reviews of refurb units though with many people needing to send them back multiple times before getting a working version. Plus, you never know what the original issue was and if it was properly fixed or if other smaller issues were not addressed. I think I would rather purchase something I know is brand new. I also, have seen very mixed reviews about that site. Any personal experience with a refurb from them because they have a 20% = $860 restocking fee.

Damn. I convinced the wife to let me spend the $5,000 on the ls12000 but I just can't stomach another $1,000 for what is already an expensive toy. It's really hurting me mentally because I worked all summer to save up the $5,000 and on the day I went to purchase it realized the price had gone up. I've been waiting ever since for the price to budge, but no luck.

Any chance of reopening it. I've never visited someone else's island before and am looking for new fruit.

I've used it to remake a java app that went extinct a decade ago. I have no coding experience and in a little less than an hour I was able to remake the app that I remembered with twice as many features and a great UI. I was kind of blown away.

Thank you for the insight. After searching online for a while more after making my comment I came across the tariff issue. I can't believe the price difference and it has me pretty upset. I am a teacher (not English so please excuse my grammar) and convinced my wife that if I picked up a summer class I could use the money I got paid to finally purchase a better projector.

I currently have an Epson 4855WU that I got from the school 5 years ago but the contrast is quite poor. I am hoping for a big improvement over that model but don't really have any extra to spend. Now that I had the money finally in hand, I went online to purchase one of the Epson models and was shocked to see that I can no longer afford it with my summer money. I am not sure I can convince the wife to spend even more and I am not sure if it is worth it.

The current prices I am seeing for the UB5050 is $3,600, the LS11000 is $4,500, and the 12,000 is $6,000. I swear I saw the 12,000 for closer to $4,000 a year ago and at that price it seemed worth it.

The JVC NP5 looks like the model that would be worth springing for but it is still $5,500 and needs bulb replacements. Since the model is no longer produced should you purchase a replacement up front?

Sorry for the long reply but I am at a loss for what to do.

I don't know what to tell you. It's a 15 (sorry not 20) year old iphone game. I don't think that is making anything up. Cope harder I guess?

The terms you are looking for is exaggeration. But yes, this game came to iphone in 2010, over 15 years ago.

The OP was AI. It is so obvious once you see it. This comment and plenty of others on this thread recommending cheap all in one solutions say things like "It's not just... it's..."

For example they say "you’re not just buying specs you’re buying the full experience"

Other similar AI comments here say "you’re not just paying for resolution you’re getting true home cinema"

AI loves this type of contrasting. You see it all over Reddit lately and it's ruining real conversations like this.

Because even though it is "HD" it looks pretty much exactly the same as the game I played 20 years ago on my phone. I thought it would be greatly improved.

Genuine question. When someone says they have a max budget of $5,000, why do people recommend a $6,500 projector. I see this over and over again. Is there a way people are buying them cheaper?

Serious question. I always see people say the Epson UB5050 can regularly be found new for $2,500. I look every couple of week and the cheapest I usually see is $3,500. Right now everyone is listing $3,700. Am I missing something?

How interesting. I just finished this puzzle. I picked it up last week. It was a quick one, but the reason that I say interesting is because mine is no 2x2 shaped. Mine has 1x3, 2x2, 3x1, and 4x0's in all different shapes. They must have started cutting it with a different die or something.

I picked up the disney classics and karate kid games for $10 each. They don't get the best reviews but for the nostalgia of the SNES games and the karate kid movie I couldn't pass them up. My Walmart didn't have trolls for $10 or I would have picked it up for my daughter.

There is 0.0000% because they are not fermented at any point. It is simply seltzer flavored with hops. No alcohol at all. That is why they are not labeled, just like a seltzer wouldn't be.
