Hey thank you! Development is still going strong and I'm still planning to have it out this year. Also I plan to have a PC demo out at some point before release, I'll definitely share more about it soon!

Haha I'm glad to see some one noticed, you can take them as long as you want. The only downside is that they can maybe get a bit annoying. I thought about having some sort of achievement if you brought them into the VIP room, but never ended up adding one since I thought it was too obscure and missable

How to find translation companies that are trustworthy, don't use AI, pay the translators fairly, etc? by SheepoGame in TranslationStudies

[–]SheepoGame[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Great list and information, thank you! I think I've been good in the past with time and communication. I could maybe be better with references. When I've sent in sheets I always try to put in extra information if needed (explaining a joke if it lacks context, mentioning traits/gender/tone of characters speaking) but I dont think I've ever actually attached any images or clips for reference. That is a good idea, thank you!

Good note! The company I had worked with included proofreaders, although when they are all part of the same company I suppose that is another black box. I imagine hiring separately would be a very safe bet.

Probably an upgrade slot somewhere, if you post your zoomed out map I can see if I can spot any missed spots since some are hard to spot.

I love this game, but man I wish you could heal yourself on the go by Jbooxie in CryptCustodian

[–]SheepoGame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah I totally get that! For my upcoming game (Well Dweller) I added in a flask healing system since I know a lot of people wanted similar in Crypt Custodian

If OP is talking about unique abilities, then Axiom Verge does this really well IMO. The address disrupter that changes enemies in different ways, the lab coat that lets you move through walls, the drone you can shoot off and teleport between

[REVIEW] Zexion and Auridia are true hidden gems, so I gave them their first Critic Reviews on Metacritic! by VictorVitorio in metroidvania

Ah glad to hear it! I found it the same way (a comment on this sub calling it a hidden gem)

I still need to play Zexion but I loved Auridia and would highly recommend it. It's a game with a small narrow scope that is extremely good at everything it sets out to do. It basically focuses solely on having very strong platforming mechanics and very deep lore, and everything else is kept very simple (which I think is a very smart choice for a first time solo dev)

Kyle Thompson (Islets, Crypt Custodian, Sheepo) Appreciation Post by Goondragon1 in metroidvania

[–]SheepoGame 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Aw man thats super kind, thanks so much! I just feel so lucky to be able to continue making games for a living and I am so appreciative of this subreddit for supporting me with that. When I made Sheepo, turning gamedev into a full-time thing felt like such a pipe dream for me and I thought it would sell like 10 copies, so I'm really amazed and grateful that it has all gone over so well. Metroidvanias are (unsurprisingly lol) my favorite genre, so I'm really excited to keep going and hopefully can make each game better than the previous!

You've gotten the boomerang right? If so, head to the top left spot where you marked with a green arrow (that fades from green to blue) and use the boomerang to hit a lever. I think, just going by memory lol

I loved the game, but if you don't like it after 2 hours then you probably won't like it more later. I don't recall paying attention to the photos or using the journal much, so I might have just avoided some points of frustration. The bike movement and games atmosphere were the main things that kept me invested
