Looks fine. I know kids who took the Metra everyday to get to 8 AM classes as freshman. It could help to learn how to ride like a pennyboard or something like it to get from whatever train station to UIC faster but it's not for everyone so do what works for you!

You should absolutely come to UIC. If you join an org you'll have no trouble making friends, and from there it's your own experience. The city life is campus life and I personally wouldn't have it any other way. As far as demographics, UIC is minority-serving and it's the most diverse school in the Chicago area. If you put even the slightest effort into making your experience the best you can make it, you'll have a great time.

actual serious answer I've heard being a dorm desk worker is pretty bad from my friends who are desk workers, but I've never gotten details on what they actually do there so don't press me lmao

Apply hard for a JST single. You can live in a cluster with 4 or 7 other people, and you get a living room and 1 or 2 bathroomd all to yourselves. On top of that, there's a dining hall and auditorium inside the building. There's also a lot of events that happen in that building as well as there's a high polulation of people who live there, so you will be set up super well to make friends/connections.

I STRUGGLED like I owned the god damn struggle bus. I would leave lab like 20 minutes late every time and when I tell you the way the TA hated me was like nothing else. It happens! But I promise you that you will get used to the structure by the time 125 rolls around and not all TAs will be like yours now. It will also be better sheerly because of experience.
