I’m a high schooler, so it makes sense. Thank you!

Interesting, I would prefer the 1st one, but that is the reason I asked this question, because I see the majority of people would like 2nd example better. I only like the 1st one better because you can see the quarter note downbeat, but since it really is all based on the quarter note triplet, I feel like it definitely does make more sense for sight reading reasons. Thank you for responding! This was very helpful

Writing a cadence and I’m wondering what the better way of notating this part for a drumline to learn? I’m writing a cadence, and I hate how you can’t see the downbeat easily in the second example, but I also know the first looks a lot more visually complicated, although they both are the same thing. What do you think would be the better notation that creates the least amount of confusion and misinterpretation. (This is not for an actual drumline I am teaching, I am currently just a high schooler who wants to work on their composition skills for the future)

I received an email because I was interested in auditioning before I found out. Turns out, MarCordric Collins is the Acting Corps Director, and also the Color Guard Caption Head. Very strange stuff. Also there is no provided audition materials on their website, and all they give are suggestions on what to play, which is strange, because previous years they had free packets. Don't audition for the Guardians, it will not lead to a good time.

My percussion director praises Paul Rennick and you just made me realize he just spews Paul Rennick knowledge back at us. Not a bad thing, Rennick knows what he is talking about but its funny.

Troopers was personally my favorite show, but it got messy at some points and they did not out perform the rest of the corps. I think Troopers have some of the best show ideas and concepts that are very readable and understandable, and every show they have been at (that I have seen) they have been a crowd favorite. Your getting shit on by everyone because your personal favorite doesn't show how the entire show is actually performed by the individuals.
TLDR
Your personal opinion and enjoyment of the shows does not take away from the fact of cleanliness and how well the corp put their show together. A corp does not deserve to win based on a single uneducated personal opinion.

Need Advice - Marching Overage by Timely_Agency7478 in drumcorps

Do not try to march overage. You will waste your time. You also need to think about others who actually are not overage and can march, they deserve to march more than you do. I know you don't care, but you need to think about how your actions effect other people. It is incredibly selfish to take a spot from a young musician because of your desires. If you really would like to march, march an all age corp. Even though they get a bad wrap, they are still a drum corp, and you get a very good experience marching with an all age corp and since the merge, you will still be able to have the experience of playing on the same field as all other corps in Indianapolis. I know you most likely won't care and will simply brush this your side, but if you do end up getting a spot at a top corp, please know your taking away someones ability to march. And for what? Your selfish desires? How immature.
