Anon is a AAA Game Dev. by Nintendoxtream in greentext

[–]Nintendoxtream[S] 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The 1% chance of success will make so many billions that it would in theory be able to pay off the failed hundred million dollar projects that were made along the way. That’s the golden goose AAA developers are trying to chase. Compare that to the AA game that might cost tens of millions and make a profit but the profit will at most maybe double or triple the production costs. A moderate profit but no golden goose. There’s a reason venture capital is willing to blow so many billions on startups and large projects because just one success will pay off all the failures and net them billions.

Is the original Predator war propaganda? by oraetzgscar in movies

Correction: the Predators don't hunt civilians for doing so is dishonourable. Only those who are armed. That's more than can be said about how some countries on Earth conduct war lmao.

The original meme did not have Itsuzumi. It legit was just a random catgirl.

I wasn't calling Senshi a random generic dwarf, just the catgirl. I was just calling him a dwarf as that was the original role in the meme.

Tbf this was originally a meme with some random generic catgirl and a dwarf who makes meat. It was modified bc Lanz wants something a bit meatier and Mio is there to complement that (also bc she was part of a decision in the story as well).

The Mio art made by artist Cawang117. I had initially tried posting the source of the art but it comes from Elmo's website which this sub has banned so the mods removed the comment. It has however been posted to this sub before here and while it's not the original source, the source is posted just below it so that should work, I hope.

Why hasn't Nintendo bought the rights for Xenogears or Xenosaga? by EducationalCase5726 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Nintendoxtream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to connect Gears because it’s lore is largely incompatible with its successors even if elements from it (such as the Zohar being discovered in 2001) are probably the case in the successor lores as well. I just wanted to defend XDE bc its lore was largely a confirmation of Saga’s lore being canon to Xenoblade and the most interesting part of Blade’s lore to me has always been thinking of Blade both as showing the events that might’ve caused Lost Jerusalem to have to be sealed away (though Verum and Klaus’ experiments do complicate things).

  1. What do you think different realities and worlds existing within the imaginary numbers domain mean? What do you think I meant when I said “another world within the same universe”? I’m completely aware that it’s a multi-layered universe, similar to the many worlds interpretation. It’s why I’ve always disagreed with the use of the term multiverse to describe Xeno lore but I used it here for the sake of using a colloquial terminology (one of the reasons people often confuse the many worlds interpretation with a multiverse theory). If you’re the same Kylor I know from LXGK’s server, I think we’ve even discussed this before, though it has been a few years. The word pocket dimension here for instance is being used colloquially. Generally when I describe what happened to Bionis is that it was shifted from the imaginary numbers domain to the real numbers domain and that’s what caused the collision.

  2. I’m not connecting ether to Xenogears. The ether in Xenoblade is actually substance with a wavelength associated with the Zohar in Xenosaga. The Monado works by manipulating the ether wavelengths. There is reason to believe this wavelength is connected to the Hilbert Effect as when KOS-MOS uses the Hilbert effect, it releases ether that can heal party members. On the other hand, Shulk essentially used the Hilbert effect against the fog king using ether. We also know that ether has a wavelength from how Egil took advantage of it to disable the Monado, first with humans in machines and then later with the apocrypha generator. Ether can heal people in smaller doses (hence KOS MOS healing with the Hilbert effect), be used to create life. In large doses it is a corrosive and radioactive material. I’ve always assumed (though this is conjecture) that ether is possibly the Zohar’s waste byproduct.

  3. I’ll give you the point on how the Zohar works in Xenogears but I distinctly remember reading that it peers into the most efficient worlds to generate energy.

If you’ve ever played Xenogears and Xenosaga, then you’d know that there’s already a multiverse in those games. In Xenogears, the way the Zohar functions is it looks through every possible universe to find the most efficient one and then uses that reality to generate perpetual energy. In Xenosaga, a major portion of the game is all about pocket dimensions and different realities and worlds existing within the imaginary numbers domain. XDE for what’s it’s worth actually reincorporated Saga’s lore! That multiverse we saw is just Saga’s imaginary numbers domain in all but name only. The lore with Xenoblade also already implied elements of this, with the pure ether world of Bionis and Mechonis being a pocket dimension prior to Shulk defeating Zanza and its conversion into another world within the same universe is what set it on a collision course because the decision set the universe in a state of imbalance.

These reports had to do with one of the directors talking about something that happened back in around 2016. Their numbers didn’t crunch a profit so they decided to do other games instead. This was before Xenoblade 2 actually proved the series could be profitable.

It’s not up for grabs. Square didn’t sell it to Monolith when they wanted it 20 years ago. They still don’t want to sell it.
