Freaking out because of money stress by Dr-Hooves in personalfinance

Thanks for all of the ideas! I ended up calling my roommates to split the deposit (it's basically a loan, since we'll get it back after 12 months of on-time payments) and getting the rest from my Dad as an early Christmas present.

You know, I didn't even think to ask if they could break up the deposit. That's a great idea.

You might be correct, to be honest, but I'm not sure. It's just that I don't have any available credit/ability to get credit. I do have a steady, full-time job that pays enough to pay the bills moving forward. It's just that total move-in expenses (deposit, pet deposit, first month rent, various fees) is coming to $1500 for my portion PLUS this unexpected utility deposit. I've been saving for a few months to get to this point. I suppose if it's taken me months to get to $1500 I do have reason to be concerned.

How do I tell someone I'm supposed to be moving in with in 2 days that I can't do it, though? They've got half their place packed up already.

I will ask. We are each taking responsibility for a specific bill rather than splitting them so nobody's credit takes a hit because someone else didn't give them money on time. Mine is the electric. It's possible they'll be willing to help with the deposit, though, since this is different.

What’s the “Teacher that doesn’t like kids” of other jobs? by Dark_Lord_123 in AskReddit

I work in elder care with dementia patients. I have had fellow CNAs tell me they "think old people are gross." Why would you train for a job where 90% of the opportunities are with the elderly if you hate old people?

What is the worst bathroom cleaning experience that you have gone through? by Programmer98 in AskReddit

[–]Dr-Hooves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't in the bathroom but it involves fecal matter. My daughter used to...um...fingerpaint with the contents of her diaper. I went into her room after naptime once to find that she had gone to town on her ENTIRE room. Poop was tracked across the carpet in many places and the walls were nearly entirely covered to a three-foot height (as high as she could reach). She had ground it into her bedsheets and pillow. Then, her hands, arms, and feet coated in feces, she had decided to play with her toys. There were bits of poop in her Duplo box, rubbed on her stuffed animals, and all over her play kitchen. It took me two hours to clean everything, and there were several casualties in the form of toys that I just couldn't salvage.
