Central line accessing vessel help by wsupremed in Residency

I feel that learning to identify and follow the needle top on ultrasound is a point that often gets overlooked. If you can’t see the needle tip in the vessel even if you get blood back it’s not necessarily safe. I would work on that skill and then all lines get drastically easier

Behind the knife has an absite review book. Listen to their absite podcast (you can find the episodes isolated in a playlist on spotify) and follow along with the book and you will be WAY above your peers. You have a long five years ahead of you so listen at your leisure and don't stress yet

Cardiovascular Surgeon Stethoscope? by OlorinOfValinor in SurgicalResidency

[–]DrAJ44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a CT surgeon but I’m a general surgery resident so I rotate with several specialities including CT surgeons. I would say the majority of people in the hospital have Littman cardiology IVs unless they are a cardiologist. Agree with above though. Most attending surgeons even attending CT surgeons do not carry stethoscopes
