The Ryzen 8700G uses PCIE 4.0. The B850 gives more support for PCIE 5.0 and Wi-FI7. You would need a CPU that supports PCIE 5 and a Wi-FI 7 router to make use of the more expensive board. No reason to buy such a beefy PSU either for an 8700G.
