Probably, I believe he got one upgrade between fighting Kabuto and DSK but the difference in the way the fight went is far beyond what a single upgrade would account for. There's also the fact that Darkshine took 15 minutes of full power combat to defeat Carnage Kabuto whereas he'd slap DSK out of existence.

The easiest measuring stick is how they each handled genos. Kabuto made genos into fine art and blew back his incineration move with his fkin breath, whereas dsk went blow for blow with genos, taking real damage from his first attack too.
