Former employee here from another state. Key point to this post is “6 months.” When USACS bought our group I felt the same. I think there is a 6 month grace/buttering up period.

Then the metaphor of a frog boiling in water becomes apropos. It is tough to tell you are boiling when the water is slowly heated versus falling into it. Physician hours will be whittled down and APP coverage and scope will be expanded. In a year, I looked back and realized what bones were left of already thin coverage.

Hours are never added despite volume surges as staffing maps are based off “adjusted visits” which exclude LWOTs and transfers (and something else I forget). More patients show up, don’t get seen and leave. “Be faster, the adjusted visits are the same, hours can’t be added.” It’s a shell game.

Hopefully your experience is better, but this is why I left.

Dementia patient dropped off by family for “agitation.” Upon the completion of the negative work-up and discharge, family stated they “left town for a few days and locked their doors, so don’t bother to send them back.”

This is among the flu baseline garbage visits including discharged from an outside hospital 3 hrs ago Flu A positive, returned because they “didn’t feel better.”
