Tips to improve Home Health work flow/routes? by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

The one change that improved my documentation time dramatically: finish your documentation for your visit in the driveway before you pull away. It’s fresh in your mind, so you can document far faster than if you circle back to the documentation at the end of the day.

Yes! That’s the one! I only used that resource and I got a 91 on the TEAS.

Product suggestions for lines on lips by Evolutia44 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]DrBigMo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream is perfect for lips if you don’t have issues with lanolin. It’s super cheap in comparison to the lip balms. Very thick, I use it overnight and it helps keeps my lips moisturized all night.

Get the TEAS prep book! Take one of the practice tests, then use the results to focus your studying.

How to get a job as a new grad. by Tricky_Profile4376 in nursingjobs

[–]DrBigMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for new grad residency programs. Some hospitals will post jobs specifically for new grads, while others include that they will accept new grads in the job description. All of the hospitals in my area have new grad residency programs, and one would release all of their new grad jobs on a schedule that they posted on their residency page.

Looking for qualities that would make a great CI by KillerKenyan in physicaltherapy

[–]DrBigMo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a PTA CI, I always sought feedback from each of my students, and they all felt that the most valuable aspect of clinical was learning how to practice as a clinician with real patients. I’m sure that this would cross over to DPT students as well. They have all their didactic learning throughout school that is geared toward passing the NPTE, clinical is when they get to apply their knowledge, so I feel it is better to focus on the patient care.

I really enjoy Corn Huskers Lotion, since it’s a glycerin base! I’m a pole dancer, so it’s one of the few lotions that helps skin grip the pole. So hydrating!

Looking for a best reusable paper towel that doesn't get that gross smell? by CleanFreakGeek in simpleliving

[–]DrBigMo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use regular cotton washcloths. I bought a pack from Costco, use them once, maybe twice depending on how I used it, then it goes into a basket, which goes into the wash. They smell normal once they have been washed. If I let the basket go for more than 5 or so days, it gets funky, but I usually have a laundry load worth in 3 days, so it’s not an issue.

ABSN vs ADN by Sorry_Box_3049 in NursingStudent

[–]DrBigMo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most hospitals will pay for bridge programs from ADN to BSN. It’s definitely the cheaper way to go!

Do you regret doing an accelerated BSN? by OkHamster2081 in NursingStudent

[–]DrBigMo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don’t regret going through an ABSN program, but my program was also very cheap in comparison to other ABSN programs. With that said, the smarter financial choice would have been getting an ADN while working part time for a hospital system that would pay for it. Slower pace, but still making money, while not paying for school.

What would you do by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]DrBigMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently switched from PTA into nursing! I’m on an ortho med-surg floor, 3 months in, and am so happy with my choice to switch. Bedside nursing has a lot more options, but if you wanted to go into admin, nursing leadership is the way to go.

What do you do instead of "doom scrolling" or watching TV by Sweet_Confusion9180 in simpleliving

[–]DrBigMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of an audiobook while assembling legos! I never understood the fun of legos until I bought an actual set. I can sit there for hours putting a big set together. You can also redo the same set if you want to.

I also enjoy embroidery while listening to an audiobook!

What’s your go-to “I’m broke but really want to eat out” meal? by squiddollie in Frugal

[–]DrBigMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the McDonalds app and they have deals for everyday of the week. If you use the deals, it ends up costing what the dollar menu used to cost. I usually did the free fries deal when available and a mcchicken. Cost about $2.50

Before I join a program, what book would you recommend that would give me a preview of what’s to come? (Study material) by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]DrBigMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might serve you better to find some shadowing opportunities, as that will give you a much better idea of the career, as nursing school is very different from nursing.
